That's the first name that comes to mind... a jazz player, I don't remember who he played with off the top of my head.

Edit: He used to play with Michael Urbaniak which is where I first heard of him.

i'm pretty sure stonewall's first name wasn't andrew. and he was never a president, just a military commander or something of the sort.

^I know. It's amazing how many people get them mixed up.

Thomas Jonathan Jackson, Andrew's cousin, was our president.

Separately, they sucked. Combined into one supreme force, divine.

You'd have to have read one of my essays on the AP U.S. History test.

I think it's Anthony Jackson. He might be the jackson that pioneered ERB's. But to be on topic, he played on the O'Jay's "For the Love Of Money" (Apprentice Theme Song) He used flange and Chorus w/pick.

It'll be Anthony Jackson. Pioneer of the electirc six string bass, origianlly commissioned Carl Thompson to make it but as seriously let down by the quality of it. Now uses Fodera basses, mainly a 33" scale Contra bass since the 36" scale version was causing him wrist and back problems. He's known for sitting down when he plays and is considered the man who took Jamerson's sound and style to the next level. The guy is a groove monster.

He has played some great stuff over the years, he has been the long time bassist of michael Petrucciani, the dwarf who plays jazz piano. He has also played bass for Chaka Khan and even did the bass tracks for Al Di Meola's Elegant Gypsy album.

FMB: Are you saying Andrew Jackson wasn't our president, and Thomas Jackson was?

EDIT: http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/aj7.html

Andrew Jackson is credited as being a president on the U.S. government webiste.

Well, he's an amazing player, I'd recommend everyone check him out, even if it's just to hear his monster bass tone!

As noted, this "patch" sounds like chorus and falnger. Well, thats something he's used a lot. In fact, if you listen the part of Victor Wooten's "Bass tribute" where they say "Anthony Jackson", we are treated to a couple of notes of this type of tone (emulated of course!).

Precisely.

Sorry, punctuation problems (and probably a missing word).

I meant that Thomas Jackson was Andrew's cousin and that Andrew was our president.

Saw the Michael Petrucciani Trio Live on the performance channel a few times. Was amazing! Watch out for it, it gets repeated every few weeks

It's a stormer alright, Jackson really plays from the heart, from the soul. He doesn't play with flash, but to quote someone from TB, he plays from somewhere "very, very deep".

Except that Stonewall Jackson wasn't the cousin of Andrew Jackson. He was a military commander during the civil war, some 40 years after Andrew was president. Stonewall was actually born just 5 years before Jackson was innaugurated.
