So, I finally got my DR Peacock Blue strings! £19 inc. delivery from Ebay (US Ebay) Which is a bargain for me as they're around £35 in the UK.

So, these strings are awesome. Not only do they look fantastic, they play very nicely and sound great! Only time will tell if they last as long as they say!

what sort of bass is that? I like it I think black strings would look better but meh you like them so thats all that matters (they truly seem gimmiky to me but I havent tried them yet so yeah)
Wintermute

Oh sweet jesus, that looks horrible.
They're not necessarily a bad idea, but Peacock Blue does not suit your bass.

Alex, you have terrible taste - that combination looks fantastic!

Its a custom bass.
Schecter Custom 4 body but with a Shuker custom wenge neck with birdseye maple fretboard, and some active EMGs :)
Thanks for the words - if you like them or hate them! :) I personally like them though, so all is good. My mate has black ones on his geddy jazz and they look GORGEOUS! I'll try and steal a picture..
I'm tempted to try either black or green next. They're not quite as radical/eye catching as my blue ones :)
Yeah, it is Gimmicky, but the strings are actually really good too

of course they are DRs lol

They look like crap. Take them off and send them to me now so I can rid you of the burden.
Does DR make gold strings? I thought putting them on my Studio 6 would look gorgeous.
Peacock blue may even look good too.
Jamie
05-12-2006, 09:22 AM
They don't unfortunately.. Well, not yet anyway!
They do:
Red
Black
Green
Peacock Blue
Blue
Yellow
Pink
Silver
I guess there's the yellow ones? hmmm...
Wintermute
05-12-2006, 09:40 AM
Silver
So... like ordinary strings, then.
Black could be pretty cool, but otherwise I'd avoid them. I tend to avoid overly colourful or extravagant effects, on a bass. I like black hardware, and dark-grained natural finishes... I avoid bright block colours, and run screaming from metal flake. Coloured strings fall largely into that category too.
Personal taste. :)

It's ok Jamie, Alex doesn't like my tastes either.
I don't really feel one way or another about the look... But I personally don't like those strings. The colour coating comes off and whatnot. At first I thought they sounded different, but I think I was probably just wanting to hear something, as I didn't the second time I played them.

Different strokes for different folks :)
And yeah, ordinary strings - I just put it in there because silver are included in the "Extra" range of strings. As in, you can get normal colour strings with the extra life coating on :thumb:

I love them! But yeah they don't 'go' with the natural look of your bass.

I've never been very inclined to try other string then my ghs boomers, with something that costs over about $20 that I might not like I find it hard to want to expierment with different strings.
They do look pretty aweseom BTW.

We'll see about that. I'll keep everyone updated.
I mean, my mate has had his for weeks (black) and none has come off his!
It says you can lose some colour if you play agressively with a pick in the same place alot though.
Has anyone seen the advert for them in Bass Player? :D Its a 7 string bass with every colour they do on

Might be hard to see the colour of the high C in the ad since they are so thin, so they probably just stuck a load of low Bs or Es on so the colours were clearly visible.

I love DRs, but the ones I had didn't last as much as my Ernies, so this might seem like a good investment.
What color for my 'Ray :p?
Jamie
05-14-2006, 03:20 AM
Black for te Ray!! :) I like the black 'uns. At first I thought they'd just look METAL! But they can actually look really classy too :)
Oh sweet jesus, that looks horrible.

Its so embarassing to be british. Everythi over here is atleast two times more expensive then what the americans get stuff for!! i would buy alot more stuff of american eBay, but im worried ill get caught up in customs

Just remember that there's no customs charges on anything under £18. That should keep you safe for bass accessories, etc.
Unfortunately we still have to pay tax on instruments.. And its a risk because sometimes it can work out cheaper than buying over here but sometimes more expensive..
I have now joined the club:

Shuker + DR strings club!
Did I tell you when I was down at Jon's he was talking about you? We were talking about how much orders he gets internationally and was saying about the 6 string he'd built for you :)
Yeah, you told me. :)

Blue strings + Bleached Blonde Finish = Horrrendous.
I'm sorry, but I think that looks really bad. What would be cool would be a red or some other color on black. Even that color wouldn't be bad on black.
