just a real quick question... defretting an acoustic bass guitar any different then an electric? I think i'm gonna do it with my Michael Kelly, but i wanna know if i'm going to need to take EXTRA special care when pulling the frets that are over the body?
Other then that i know exactly what to do, and i'm soon gonna start pulling frets, i just needa know if anything's different from electric to acoustic bass defretting
thanks in advance

I'd like to know how you plan to get the frets out. Those frets are not very tall at all, and rather wide and low. I'd think about that before anything else. Prying them out will be difficult as they're not really tall enough to get leverage on, same with using pliers.
And if it's a Dragonfly... this would just make me sad messing with that inlay.

Its not a dragonfly, and if need be on pulling the frets, i'll head over to StewMac and get their one tool, its a fret puller. But right now i'm planning on using a soldering iron, thena putty knife(the thing you use to scrape paint) because it's really thing and able to get underneath of the frets rather easily from what i heard
But Tryxx... don't worry if i had a dragonfly, i'd NEVER in my right mind think of doing ANYTHING along these lines, the inlay on those basses are pure secks

ok.....
i'm just gonna go ahead and start it, i guess i'll see how easy the frets come out, and after i get the frets pulled, i'll post pics.
I'll just turn this into a thread showing this project off...
and for anyone thats still wondering, ITS NOT A DRAGONFLY, and it doesnt have any special inlay, just dots, so i'm not gonna screw up a masterpiece
more later i guess
