Do different string gauges affect tension on the neck??
I like my strings a little "floppy" and I was wondering if lighter (or heavier?) gauge strings could work to that effect.

Lighter = Less tension.
Heavier = More tension.

Different strings for different styles, light strings are better for tap and slap but if you were in a downtuned metal band you would want some heavys.

That's average, anything thinner than that is light.

Is there any difference in tone between lights and heavy?

i use GHS Boomers that are lights... kick *** for tapping cause its soo easy to do with the floppy strings

if u want em REALLY light though, i seen some Extra Lights..

but yea, lights are more floppy then heavier gauages...http://www.juststrings.com these people have a huge variety of strings too, check em out

heavies have slighty more bass and oomph, but it's not a bight thing for me, I like my tone bright with a lot of high frequencies!
