..and this contestant, who was fairly large and wore scooby doo trouser braces used 'bassmen' as a word. It was not allowed and the dictionary whizz person said 'one bassman was enough so there was no plural' the contestant then said 'some would even argue that one bass is too many'
I was playing my bass at the time and i was outrageddd :angry:
But anyway, to get to the point, what bands have more than one electric bass, if any?

I think,
Gamma Ray (german power metal with former Helloween singer) did a song on their album 'Somewhere Out in Space' that featured only bass. It could have been called 'The Landing'. The last time I heard I didn't play anything myself so I can't remember whether it was good or not.

my brother got an album by a band called sunn 0))) and they are a band of 4 bassists. they described themselves as black sabbath without the guitar, drums or vocals and slowed down to 4bpm. sounds stupid to me lol

King Crimson had two bassists for a few years. My band has two bassists. And besides, the Bassman is an amp, and so if you have more than one Bassman amp, then you have Bassmen.

Wrong dude, last I heard (not long ago) they were two very detuned guitarists, they just play bass amps, hence the name "SUNN 0)))" after the amp company

You are correct. They also tend to have some guest instrumentalists on their albums, like Joe Preston

parliament funkadelic used 2 basses im pretty sure bootsy on a 4 and someone else on a 6 could be wrong though, king crimson used 2 basses, spinal tap did on the song "big bottom", very sure that i saw one of miles davis' bands had 2 bassists (marcus miller slapping and some fat dude) because i saw a video where he had 2.

Erm, actually, in a funny twist of grammar you don't. You see because Bassman is a proper noun, the correct term would be "Bassmans" :lol: just saying it makes me giggle :lol:

It's pretty moot, to be honest, as by my dictionary 'Bassman' isn't a word either. It's a brand, yes, but are you allowed brands on Countdown?
I've not watched it after both the contestants and Rick Wakeman failed to spot 'Pirates'. :mad:

In my opinion that's good brand naming - I say you know you're onto a winner when you can't pluralise it, whilst maintaining grammatical soundness. The same goes for the word "The"... that's why all brand names should have "The" infront of them...see it'd make for a funnier world...
"Well i was looking at some of your The Fender Jazz basses...."
"How much is this The Fender?"
"Can you please get that The Fender down for me? It's too high on the rack."
And so-on.
