Yes, yes we do. At the top of the subforum list is "Bass Lessons." That takes you to these links here:

well i would practice slaping on all the strings and not just E and A
i would do the sam ewith poping

some other things u can do is instead of hiting the strings and bouncing
hit the string and go through it. this way of slap might help after if u want to persue duble thumbing

try check out the lessons section they have some good lessons on slap

also search for preveous threads on it

i think wintermute made an indepth thread on slap tech.

good luck

I should add that I play a 5-string, and the strings are close together even for a 5-string, so this makes it difficult because I hit the strings I don't want to hit. I should also add that I'm a guitarist by heart and I picked up bass for my solo recording. I've been playing bass for about 4 months, and I use a pick almost all the time. It works well for me, and I'm almost as fast as I am on guitar. Thanks dudes, that helps.

You can't slap with a pick. I hope that helps. Also, read Tryxx's post. Kthx.

Oh yeah, it's not all about speed. You guitarists and your shenanigans.

Well, you can...but you gotta find a way to hold it while slapping. Maybe keep it tucker between fingers or put it in your mouth while slapping.

Well, its not everyday that you hear someone rippin it up on a bass. And I can easily tuck the pick under my little finger. Us guitarists are so arrogant, I know. Its all part of the guitarist conspiracy. Us guitarists are planning to burn all your... Er, I was about to say, we're going to let you guys stand center stage from now on! Yeah... But watch out. I think the drummers are up to something. We've got vocalists on survailence 24-7. Oh, and whatever you do, don't look at the guitar forum. Its, uh, too boring, and you guys wouldn't be interested in what we're planning. I mean, talking about.

Yeeeah I don't know how to respond to that.

Listen to Billy Sheehan to get an idea of how bass can indeed by ripped up. :thumb:

I prefer more classical and groovy pieces than speedy shreddy solos, but whatever works.

Which bass forum do you visit? This place is oozing with arrogance and bitter feelings for guitarists for being more popular.
Plus guitarists are assholes.
Seriously though, guitarists are cool.

Because I see very little mentioned about guitarists being pricks around here.

Actually no, you do get a lot of arrogance here. It isn't always saying guitarists are pricks, but a lot of people here think bass is the hardest, best, most groovy, and most overlooked instrument.

I think that it CAN be the most groovy. I do not agree with the other things that you mentioned.

Hardest? Piano or violin.
Best? That is objective.
Most overlooked? Euphonium (sp?)

I suggest you just stop, Lowsound.

Everything in your last post is just opinion so there's no need to start an argument with Akira.

They are all subjective.

there can be/are some groovy guitar/drum/whatever parts in songs no doubt, but imo it's the bass that makes the song groovy.

i dont ever recall seeing anyone say that bass is the hardest instrument either...

They was an arguement a little while ago about whether or not bass is harder than guitar and drums.
