I would liek to nkow of some beginner-expert bass solos. Im looking into learning quite a few since i have a lot of time on my hands now. I know that vitor wooten and other bassits (lone bassits) are insane, but im mainly looking for solos frmo songs like the ytse jam (dream theater), solos like those. Plz list as many as possible.
Learn the solo from My Generation by The Who.
Jaco Pastorius - S/T
Stuart Hamm - Radio Free Albemuth

My generation is reaaaalllly easy, I would suggest Higher ground by the chilis (if your into funk bass playing). Or some rise against. Those arnt 'bass solos', but there alot better than some solos that ive heard.

Wait...Higher ground( the slap equivelent of Smoke on the water) is harder than My generation, which requieres use of three fingers?!?(or at least some decent picking skills)
Slang-Jaco pastorius(awesome solo, if you can memorize it, you can play it)
You can also try to learn to finger pick the first few parts of Classical thump, since hammering arpeggios makes a great warm up.

Yep, a lot of people lack the concentration required to enjoy such music.

If we're going the Burton way then yeah Pulling Teeth is quite cool to learn but the Orion bass solo's are pretty good.
If you're looking at Dream Theater kinda thing rather than funk solos

I'm not only a racist, but a hermaphrodite as well.
...okay...
Anyway, For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica is a great place to start, as well as the other Metallica solos mentioned. Also check out Mr. Big's Addicted To That Rush, and Burn.

Coffee Shop by the RHCP has an insane yet somewhat easy solo (provided you own a wah for the first part). Aeroplane also has a pretty nice bass solo in it.

the fingerstyle solo from the end of "coffee shop" by the red hot chili peppers is nice . . . and also, "teen town" by jaco is pretty nice for intermediate level bass playing when you get there . . .

Higher ground is much harder then My Generation.
Everyones always saying Teen Town is an intermediate song. I don't really get that? Few bassists in general can play it through with each note sounding clear. And most bass solos are a lot easier. I find something like Quahogs to be easier then Teen Town. Maybe cause I use 3 fingers though. Sorta awkward for that song.

It doesn't have a bass solo, the bass just plays the melody.

the bassline in "come on, come over" by jaco is good. i don't think it really counts as a solo, but it's still good.
