Thats's a good album, they only have two, to my knowledge at least and each is as good as each other. You should try and get your hands on Chris' Gentlemans Hairdresser and Railway Bookshop though. Just for good measure

I don't think it's sold out. I think it's just hype. Not surprising if it sells out soon, though, cus it's hometown and it's possibly their last date ever (again). Plus they sold out a 1300 on their 'last show ever' in Derby. & according to my mates that went, it was too good.

They're trying to get on the bill for Reading/Leeds, though, on The Lock Up stage. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Davies buckled and let them on, I think he respects them, and it would be a massive pull for jerks like me who'd probably buy a day ticket if they were playing.

Haha. Yeh Reading sucks balls these days apart from the Lock Up stage. 'm contemplating getting a day ticket providing the line up is decent.

I'd buy a day ticket if they played Reading, defintely.

I'll be going to Brighton and hopefully another date around the country as i'm not in England on the Londoin date unfortunately

^^Wrong. I think i prefer that album to Call Of The Weasel Clan now, i used to have it the other way roiund.

Anyone got any live vids they could e-mail me or something, i lost all mine and i've only got one of them playing Kid Dynamite with Lewis from Captain everything! on trumpet.

I could never work out how to download their full final ever show when people got it last time

Lightyear are on their campaign trail. Kraig from lightyear asked on soulseek to send a mail to bbc (don't remember the address anymore) because they want to play the reading and leeds festival

Drop The Baby
05-19-2006, 10:59 AM
There's no-one in Lightyear called Kraig (or Craig!), but i know they've been trying to generate the publicity to get on there. It's most probably a friend or associate of the band.

F'uck i wish i was there when they played an improntu set in the car park at Reading that year

I'd imagine that is either a misprint or he's joined them for this last tour.

If you read the article it says there's 7 members of Lightyear (although it does say plans were made for a trombone player to be added).

No trombone featured in any of their albums and i've never seen one at any pics/vids or being at one of their gigs so now i guess he was there but it didn;t work out oir something?

F;uck knows!

Oh yeah is that one from Thirde, from when they played at Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms? Was an amazing show. First time I saw/met Captain Everything!, Lew is lovely  also the only time I saw C*E! with Rich on drums! as it was like....2.5 years til I saw them again

Drop The Baby
05-20-2006, 06:28 AM
Haha that is shocking that you had to wait 2.5 years to see them again with a touring schedule like theirs!

BLake, their new drummer, is also a really nice guy. Last year when it was the first time i'd seen them with him i bumpoed into them a couple of times before the gig and then at the end of the show he gave me a drum stick (not of the chicken variety)

Widzjnent: I was just reading descriptions of the upcoming shows (you know, the little blurbs they do), and it said Lightyear were playing as an 8-piece so i presume this Kraig is playing with them, or has joined the band for the final shows.

Adam: I just realised you'd never seen Lightyear before!!!!!! Here we go babay!!

Kraig was the original trumpet player, but was kicked out / left the band.

He did play their last few gigs though.

He's playing with them for this reunion tour.

I quit the guitar forum, simply because I was bored in partacipating in endless moronic battles over petty things such as fave guitar brands. I only wanted to post here to show my love for utter Lightyear.

Eurgh don't I know it. There's lots of amazing bands I saw once and never again, til I moved to London, as small-ish bands (HHN size and smaller) only tend to play Southampton and I can't afford/organise lifts that far for just tiny bands :upset:

However, now I have moved out of London for the summer again. I feel so isolated!

Impression of me the other day going into Bristol Ticket Shop... "Hi, are you selling tickets for Lightyear at the Beirkeller on July 20th? ...You are... sweet. I'll take 6 tickets please"

Drop The Baby

Back to the parental home, Portsmouth. But I'm moving into my new London house at the end of next month. Although I'm getting a job down here so I will probably have to stay here all summer.

I don't know why I'm telling you this, you don't care!

But bristle types, check out the gigs my mate Mike puts on...He doesn't put them on too often but they're to benefit our awesome zine, should be another for the cause in August ;) check out http://www.pmzine.co.uk and click on pmzine presents :D

The second number I gave should be the ticket number. I rang but no-one picked up and I've since realised I can't afford to go so stopped trying.

Yeah i know, so gay.

I rushed to book my Reading day ticket for them though, also the Bouncing Souls, Rise Against and SOIA are playing that day.
