I saw the premier of this film in Dublin last Friday (8 people showed up) and it's one the greatest documentaries I've ever seen about an artist. Especially one who has influenced so many artists including Kurt Cobain who frequently wore one his t-shirts. What makes this artist's life so interesting apart from the great music was the decline in his mental health(he's bi-polar)
which really screwed up his chances to become famous. Despite this he has gained a cult following over the years and he still performs(his mentally ok now but still kinda not). If this film is played near you I suggest you go and see it.

The internets told me that it was supposed to open at a theater here last weekend. But it never did. I'm miffed, really wanted to see it.

Well, he worked at McDonalds but I'm not sure he gave out demos. It sounds like something he'd do though.

yeah, i read once that he handed out home-recorded demo tapes to customers. i really want to see this, but it probably won't play anywhere around here. i'll have to wait for the dvd.

They were actual albums and some of his best work.
