The guitar guys will have probably seen this when I first posted it, ages ago. It's very much in the design and development stages, I'm still trying to find an effective way to drill out the pickup slugs, or find a steel/iron tube that is the right size.

Buuuuuuut eventually I'm lookin to get red/blue LED's in it, switchable between the two colours/off on a DPDT on/off/on switch, and have a switch allowing me to have the LED's chasing or flashing. I'm so 80's :upset:

These LED's tie in with the 3 lights I have on my strat atm, indicating which pickup(s) is on.

Every now and again I'll do a bit more work and post about it, but I suppose this is a good thread to introduce myself as a mod, and a wannabe luthier.

Cheers.

Meh, you need a childrens keyboard or you just don't beat Detuned0

Heh, but yeah, we should start an LED lubers club.

OH YEAH! I just remembered! My mate says I can have his cheapo plexiglass guitar! And the first thing that came to mind was "drill lots of holes in the body for lots of LEDs".

I just got done reshaping my eBay guitars neck/sanding off the gloss. It's gonna be black pretty soon.

Is that actually gonna work?

Yeh, course. I'm gonna put a string retainer right after the nut, so the tension is good.

Although, my strat hasn't got string trees and it's fine.

that looks pretty funky. id cut my headstock up, however i put a big smily face sticker on it so you know, it'd be a waste.

i have however made zebra stripes for my pickguard to spray over sometime!

I was thinking about doing that to my guitar, having LEDs to indicate which pickups are on. How hard was it to do?

Very easy, I just used the other pole of my 5 5 way switch. You might have to track down a Les Paul style toggle but in DPDT if you have two buckers, or if you're using both poles of a 5 way, get hold of the megaswitch delaer, which has 4 poles.

BTW - SBT - don't drill holes into the body of a plexiglass guitar. Put the LED's behind pickguard, or if it's a clear pickguard, behind the pickups. It'd look way better than drilling holes straight into the body.

The LEDs are sweet, not so sure about the headstock though.

/doesn't know very much, if anything about electronics.

But thinking about it, it doesn't really seem that hard. My jackson has room for a battery in it, so I was thinking of adding something... battery powered.
