Danny Elfman/Oingo Boingo

I've heard Danny Elfman's name mentioned frequently and decided to make a thread about Oingo Boingo, Elfman's band.

I was just wondering if anyone else likes these guys. Their sound is similar to Devo and the B52's with more of a chaotic and eerie feel. The song Weird Science was actually made for the movie and Dead Man's Party was another great 80's/cheese-new wave single. It's just such a shame that they took a back seat to other new-wave 80's groups.

Basically if you enjoy Elfman's solo work you might like Oingo Boingo. Their best albums are Only a Lad and Dead Mans Party.

Oh my God. I can't beleieve someone actually made this! I adore OB. I own all their CDs and most of their records and must say if anyone out there likes Elfman's musical composures or any New Wave 80s stuff you must listen.

I still have limited experience with Oingo Boingo, but I love everything I own of Danny Elfman's. He's also written the theme music for pretty much every TV show I watch, so yay.

What album(s) should I get?

Only a Lad is Oingo Boingo's best in my opinion but their most popular album is Dead Man's Party. Both albums are great starting points.

I heart Danny Elfman, but I dislike Oingo Boingo. Besides "Dead Man's Party", that is.

I like Oingo Boingo. A good unique American new wave band. But I suppose just about all new wave is unique....
