View Full Version : Oasis Live

I just watched Oasis live in manchester on TV, and needless to say, I wasn't very impressed. The music itself was great, but their stage presence was a little too bland. All they really did was just play their stuff. They didnt have any surprise intro onto the stage, they just walked on from the back, they lacked pyros, communication with the crowd (the only thing Liam was saying was the titles to the songs) and they had Noel play wonderwall with an electric instead of an acoustic, which I think ruined the song. Ive never actually seen them live before, but is this what I expect to see if I ever do see them live?

I had a wicked time watching them live! I was right up front though, like mabye 3 rows back at the very most. I havn't seen Live In Manchester, but if you're gonna watch it indoor, the intro has certainly improved somewhat from your description. Anyway, yeah, the Sydney gig was jammed packed with insane fans, so everyone was singing along for all the songs and it was a great atmosphere as well. Noel's got a pretty imposing stage presence as well. Not the best live show, but I enjoyed myself.

I saw them in New York about a year ago and they were great. Noel used an electric for Wonderwall then too, but it had some kind of acoustic simulator on it so it sounded right. I don't think pyrotechnics are really Oasis' thing though and their songs are hard to jump around to on stage. I think what really made the show great was the atmosphere. The stage was set up like a really intimate show, the lighting was perfect, they had a great stage presence - they're legends of their time after all - and of course thousands of fans who knew every verse to all the songs.

I saw them last year and they were good, not as interesting live as other bands put performance wise they're spot on.

i agree with clunge, they dont go mad on stage and be flamboyant cos they dont need to cos the songs themselves are amazing, top live band!

i haven't seen them live at a show or tv, but they're 1 of my favourite bands, and while listening to some live songs on the oasis website, liams voice sounded really old and slow and, i dunno, just really dodgy. i dont know if thats just a bad recording or just him

Would you really want Noel Gallagher running Axl-style onto the stage with pyros exploding all over the place? Be glad they know what fits them, I'd say.

Make me a sandwich, please.
Ahem, yes, I saw them with the Foos so Oasis were a bit upstaged but they were still really good.

Was that at Cardiff??? Because i thought the Foos werent that great, I thought the Coral were better.
And about this stage presence thing, i think that a band the comes flying in form the roof or something ridiculas like that is laughable, they're a rock and roll band not a travveling circus
Oasis are one of the worst bands to come out of England or wherever those fags are from.

Yup
But then I've spoken to you about this gig before.
The Coral were disappointing for me, being a biggish fan. Except The Operator - that was awesome.

clearly you've never heard of Bloc Party or Franz Ferdinand, tho Franz are from Scotland, which probably explains it

Dudes, they're not an independent label. Gawd.
It bothers me that people use the term incorrectly. There's no need to be a dickhead about it.

Ah I see, I wasn't referring to Oasis as indie.
Franz F/Bloc Party.
Misunderstanding ftw
Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party aren't indie either.
Franz Ferdinand are on Sony, which is not an indie label, and Bloc Party are on Vice, which is a ****ty label and an even ****tier magazine.

Franz Ferdinand are on an indie label internationally. They're on a major for the American releases.

I like Oasis, but that logic is utterly retarded. You're basically saying because they're popular they're good by default.

Id just like to point out that back in '94-'98/'99 Oasis were an absolutely phenomenal live act... they were famed for it!
The way i see it now is that like.. they're first album and they're biggest album both came out over a decade ago. They've been touring for 12 years... they've kinda been there done that with most things on tour so it would be hard for them to get excited like a little school girl everytime they have a gig.
i saw Oasis in hampden park and let me tell you it was no let down.

You cant really sing along to Morrisseys lyris, though they are good. But not in the same way.
