in my quest to add some treble into my uber bassy ebo, i guess adding a j pup will do the trick. i own a p/j bass and i love it. but the big problem is how to install it? here's what i visualize: (did this in ms paint so it sucks)

but without a pickguard to attach the pup, i need a super precise cutting. i also just want to add a volume pot for the j pup.

You'll need a router, and a solder iron and the parts. Wont be to hard if you know how to use the equipment.

The tricky part will be getting from the pup rout to the control cavity. A nice, long drill bit is what you need for that.
Id recommend using a template/guide for the rectangular portion of the pup routing (a straight peice of wood clamped across the body so that the router will rest against it and go in a straight line will be fine), and freehand the portion for the ears.
