I thought Thursday was out of the scene, and they come back with there best album ever out of nowhere. I hope people haven't forgotten about them, because in a music world where it seems we have passed up on the whole screamo thing, Thursday continues to put out new innovative music. It sounds like nothing they've done before. Some people say the sound quality is bad. I disagree. Its raw, but its good.
Go pick up there new album.
The best Thursday album is almost as good as the worst Good Charlotte album (all of them).

What the **** is wrong with you, Thursday is a great band, what I've heard off the new album is great along with all there other albums:thumb: .
WATT was the best album imo
/dei: stfu you fag, kthx
Oh, hush up, you two. Like Thursday is close to being even halfway decent. It's all a bunch of post-emo fagcore wankery with some whiny dude named Geoff singing about something I don't care about. If Chris Carrabba could stop crying for a second and find a distortion pedal, the end result would be Thursday.

I mean, I don't like Thursday, but the only band I can think of at the moment that rivals Good Charlotte's crapness is Simple Plan.

Generally, I don't post in the argument stage of a thread, but this one I could not pass up.
The new Thursday album is incredible. Now even if you do not like the band, the album itself is something fresh that hasn't been tried by many other bands out there doing the same screamo genre. The way the album is constructed is amazing.
First and foremost, the bringing in of the synth to be more prevelant on this album is perfect. For those that didn't know, Andrew has been with the band since the beginning of War All The Time (shortly before even) and now he really completes the bands image of what they are trying to portray. Very deep synth, and it fills in all the cracks.
Second, the lyrics are beautiful. The line "Mother, Father, can you hear this? I want to thank you for your sweetness, but I am never coming home... we're never coming home" is all about the people on the planes in 9/11 during the attacks. Many of the lyrics and now very interpersonal, and are deeper than Geoff has written in a long time.
Another thing that makes this album incredible is simply the way the music is constructed. The guitars have so much texture to them now (not that they didn't before, but you understand where I am getting at). There is a lot of effects use on the album, and it really gives an ambiant feel in a lot of the songs. The album is very raw (leaning more towards the Full Collapse days, IMO). There is a lot of emotion/aggression on the album, however very little screaming. A lot of post-rock (Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Mum, etc.) inspiration can be noted on many of the songs on this album.
Bottom line is this. Even if you do not like the band, the music can be heard and very much respected, especially on this album. This band does incredible things, considering how they have progressed through the years. Don't bash other peoples views on an album just because you don't like the band. Sometimes if you give it a chance you may hear something new that you enjoy. Bashing what other people like proves how close minded others can be. If you don't like the band then you don't have to listen..
Even though, they are doing a hell of a lot better than you and I are right now. :)

First off, Geoff doesn't whine. He pours out his soul with more emotion than you or I have ever experienced. If you saw them in concert, you would especially know what I mean. Secondly, compared to a lot of bands out there his lyrics are very deep and personal, so whether or not you care what he has to say, a lot of people do, and they mean a lot to him, so in music, thats really all that matters. And unlike Chris Carabba, not every song is about him getting his heart broken by a girl, even though Carabba could probably get any girl he wants to.

Do you like any music whatsoever? I'm not saying that I'm a big Thursday fan, but to go and classify their music into a Good Charlotte folder, I think you've got some issues my friend. Rather than dissing someone's music, just don't post, k? k.

I love this album, it is so refreshing. I am glad they took a slightly different path and didn't try to make another War All The Time. If you want to look in Thursday more just pick and choose, you can't really go wrong.

I'm not classifying their music as queer pop-punk. I'm simply comparing the quality of these two bands albums and how tolerable they are, in my opinion. I know that if I'm not going to say something "nice," then I shouldn't say anything at all, but that keeps things boring. What's the point of a discussion board if we can only agree with each other?

Some people cannot get into it becuase of a few things:
1. The production
2. The rawness
It's more organic in my opinion

I'm telling you guys, even if you don't like them THAT much, you would be thoroughly impressed by the live show. They sound identical if not better than the album, and the energy is amazing. I'm kinda bummed though. I've been to three of there shows, and they always went to this one venue, which is a place that attracts some bigger acts, but is definitely a smaller venue, although its my favorite place to see a show. Now that they have gained some recognition though, there show this year is at the big pavilion that holds like 10,000 at least. I've seen some good shows there too, but its not as good as the smaller place.
I've no problem with rawness. I don't like Thursday because it looks like a bunch of 30 year old guys crying about things like a bunch of 8th graders. I don't know what Geoff's experienced in his life, and, frankly, I couldn't care less. The only thing I know is that I don't like Thursday, and I'll not hold my tongue ever.

Before you bash a band though, you should at least understand what they are singing about. Most of Geoff's lyrics are political (From Rupture to Rapture, For the Workforce Drowning, Paris in Flames, Division St.....etc.) Most of his lyrics are about day to day life of the American Economy and how peole handle business... rarely is he crying about anything like girls and broken hearts, and if he is generally it is a metaphor for something else. You simply heard the name Thursday, saw the tag that was put on them (screamo) and can't back up any real reasoning why they are not a good band. You don't have to like every band, but give credit where credit is due. No one is forcing you to like them, but you are the one acting like an 8th grader by not respecting other peoples tastes. C'mon man, how old are you?

That's a hard question to answer, since the new album sounds kind of far away from Thursday. If you want another album by them, i would start with War All The Time. Even though i think Full Collapse is better, it would probably be harder to get into if you like the new album.
Personally, i think ACBTLD is on par with WATT. I doubt they will make another album as good as Full Collapse or Waiting, but you really cant hold it against them since those are both amazing albums.
Wow, this thread is in 3 different forums.
I find myself not liking dei or thursday, so I wont post.

No need to bash the indie-listeners because of one idiot.
Weezer had two good albums. If I had to name the top 10 albums of the 1990s, Pinkerton would be a candidate for the top spot.

It's quite easy to live in your own ignorance, isn't it dei? Truly, how do you think you can be taken seriously if all you can do is make fun without any real argument? It really is quite funny because no one is forcing you to like the band, however, you provide nothing but empty arguments for why "they suck".
So, good work! You could be the biggest thick-headed human being I have found on these boards.
