He seems okay, but it could use some more variation and the time was a little spastic in parts. Also, he should tune his snare because it sounds a little out of tune. Another thing for him to work on would be a little better control of his double bass grooves because the hits are sometimes off and he flams the bass and snare.

my thoughts would be:
a spoilt rich kid with great equipment and a lagging skill. that's all. ba bye.
ok, ok.... he was kinda good!

TTTSNB (your drummer) is on here too, you know and i think he could've posted this video himself... and he would've posted it in the right place.

Well, speaking from a bassist point of view, I certainly wouldn't want to play with him. He has a huge set for absolutely no reason because he can't seem to use any bit of it tastefully. He's far too repetative and when he does try to switch things up he just flings his arm to another part of the set to play the same rhythm on a different piece.
His tone is also horrible.

yes, drums and even drummers usually dont sound good when listening to them this way... needs the backing track ;)

Yes, his playing was unbelievably annoying.
But look at the way he holds those sticks! It's terrible, just, unbearable.
He needs to learn how to do fills on toms, not or crashes/rides.
Edit: I'm also not a big fan of really long blast beats.

his playing wasnt as good as i would have suspected.
his tone wasnt all that great either

Alright, well I see that you guys can be kinda dishonest to me, if I posted that, you probably wouldn't have been so critical.
I was playing to the click the whole time, thats why sometimes the playing sounds a little "uncreative", I was focusing on keeping in time the whole time.
As for you, Jody LeCompte (http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/member.php?u=123092)
First off, that was recorded with a video camera. You think my drums are gonna sound amazing through that crappy mic?
I have a "huge" set because I actually do use everything, contrary to your stupid belief.
As I stated above, I was playing all that to the click, so I only really played stuff I know I could play decently.
Red Dot,
Ok, maybe my technique sucks, I don't know.
I do play many tom fills in this song, but I also like to use double ride stuff and crash stuff, its a nice different sound and is fun to play.
. Are you threatened by me playing something thats slightly unorthadox?

Hes not bad. it really did get boring after a while.
If you guys play shows, tell him not to bring ... like over half of the cymbals and stands he has, because I dont think I saw him use over half of the cymbals.
I didnt watch the whole thing though... but about 4 min of it.

Well, I actually use pretty much all of them, I just wasn't really there because I was focusing more on getting it as clean as possible. I don't think I'm gonna bring the over head chinas, or most of the splashes/

playing to a click or a cd can make you sound monotone, i dont personally concider it "at your best" when playing like that.
the backing track of what you were playing would help too.
i think youre sounding better :thumb:
remember ~ its not about what youre playing but how well youre playing it, timing etc.
Jody LeCompte ~ why does that sound like the name of a bad Philadelphia cover band to me?

i hate your video simply because of the sound your ride makes, sorry

That wasn't all that clean man. The blast beats were the only thing that sounded alright, but I couldn't even hear your bass drum during them so I don't know how clean they were.
All around I'd say your feet could use some work.

Yeah, thanks man.
I guess so, I'll post another video later of me playing just jamming out, playing all the stuff I know.
I'm trying to play the best I can, but I agree I need to work on the double bass, not real clean.

TTTSNB... take it to heart, but don't take them as insults....(well except for the few harsh critics).
Whether it was intentional or not, that was genius having someone else post your stuff. I'm gonna try that and see if I can some extremely honest answers.
If people think the drummer isn't on the forum, they aren't afraid to open up on him.
some things I noticed
1)you looked very tense much of the time
2)dynamic ranges didn't exist
3)drumming seemed like the ideas didn't flow well at some times
4)I dug that little melodic thing that you did on the two really tiny splash cymbals
5)Work on being more melodic...it sounded like drumming and not like grooving... (if that makes sense)

Alright man, I appreciate the critique. I don't mind if people give me honest answers, as long as they do it in a constructive way. I didn't do that on purpose, my guitarist just posted it without my knowledge, haha, but it seems like a good idea.
1....yeah I need to work on my technique, my teacher and I are working on that, and I'm doing alot of pad work lately.
2....yeah, I need to work on that too, its just when I play quietly, I sound worse, so I just hit harder, haha.
3...Need to do that also, thats mainly because I was just playing random things, not really doing anything planned out.
4...Thanks, sort of a Bozzio influence I guess, haha.
5...Definitely, thats one aspect I haven't really thought of.

Thanks about the toms also, medium batter, loose resos. I use blasts beats just as mainly a dramatic effect in songs, its not even 1% of what I do. As for the groove, yeah, I tried to make this is groovy as possible, haha.

bad taste and style. Bad hair too. Does he dress emo, death metal, or punk, he wasn't in the camera enough to get a good look, as if there is much of a difference. I hate when people CHOOSE to look like idiots. And I have a lot of them in my visual arts classes, and they smell pretty funny too. Not saying you do, but that's going to be the preconception people have of you for the rest of your life if you keep it up. Take pride in yourself and get over the black clothes and long hair, get a trim, and clean up with some soap and water! Sunshine never killed anybody either...except icarus, but that was his own damn fault. On another note, he has lots of potential, he just needs to mature his style and hone in on what he wants out of drumming. The double bass is pretty darn quick, but so overwhelming, you should try doing rudiments with them and incorporating them into other styles and not just crazy blastbeats, TRUST ME, it's a lot more fun than you think, and you'll get into other styles, and yours will mature.

You sir, are a ****ing idiot. Just because you see that I have long hair, you automatically assume that I am someone I'm not. I don't wear black all the time, I am VERY careful with my personal hygeine (Shower daily, wash my hair daily at least), and I don't like the heat in the summer. I like metal thank you very much, among MANY other styles. How old are you? 12? You sound like some of the kids at my school. And no, I'm not cutting my hair, you worthless ****ing prick.
I'm probably either 5+ years older than you, or you may be older than me (17), but I'm telling, cease this moronic and close minded attitude before your brain explodes.
I am learning many other styles in my drumming, I can play some decent samba and jazz also. The double bass, I do play some more syncopated patterns with it, if you could only listen, but not the most syncopated because I'm not fully comfortable with them yet, so I don't want to play them in a video.
Oh, and use paragraphs so I can actually read what you're saying.

^ Haha so true.
What your guitarist did was actually a pretty good way to receive some honest answers indepedant on who the drummer is.
The video is pretty good considering it was taken with a camera phone. Set sounded OK, but as said before, some variation would increase its dynamics.
I'm looking forward to seeing a video where you jam on every piece of the kit with different styles and everything, it'll be really cool.

More groove, less aimless blasting and stick twirling. Less cymbals more chops. Less speed more feel. Good double bass and single roll chops though. You blast pretty fast and your feet are way ahead of anything I am capable of. I liked the feet alot.

i was gonna blast the fool that went on about looks and but i realised thats already been done on this page, nvm, anyway i thought the first minute of playing was good with the double ride stuff and i liked the left hand on hihat then switching to right hand on ride and the DB'ing aswell, i didnt like the blast beats though it got boring after the 2minute mark .
good playing though just need to put more variation into it and concentrate on dynamics aswell maybe through in some more off beat stuff

If you were aiming to impress, your goal is far from achieved. If you wanted to post to get some criticism, good idea.
Technique:
Decent, you've got speed, but I wasn't terribly impressed with your independence. I'd pick up 4 Way Coordination by Marvin Dahlgren. It's an amazing book and it'll open up your playing like you wouldn't believe.
For the groove:
The parts that sounded decent were common. The parts that weren't common sounded bad. Try experimenting and making it sound good.
Blast beats might sound good in songs but in a solo, it'd be better to stay away from them. Learn to use your entire set musically, from what I heard you had way more than you could use at this point in your career.
