Alright, that's it. I'm tired of this forum's lack of enthusiasum towards Boris, so I am now forcing each and every one of you to listen to Boris, at least once. They're an essential band if you're looking for an ecclectic sound...and even if you're not. They are a band that is genuinely not interested in repeating themselves or staying in one place. Ranging from dense, heavy doom, intense drone, ambient drone, noise rock (and just plain noise), to sloppy, gritty rock'n'roll and atmospheric space rock, Boris is a band that will compose a dreamy soundtrack to an unmade movie one minute, and then turn around and make some of the most dense music you've ever heard.
They never fail to experiment with their sound. Several collaborations with Japanese noise-master Merzbow can prove this. Also, their album Dronevil consists of two vinyl LPs meant to be played simultaneously layered over one another to complete the sound.
They're really an album-band (generally a lot of their albums are just one hour-or-so-long song, often divided into separate tracks for the sake of convienence). So with that in mind, I link you to http://www.stonerrock.com. Click on Mp3 Jukebox, scroll down to Boris, and take a listen to some of the tracks. If they interest you even in the slightest, give me your e-mail and I'll upload their album Feedbacker for your enjoyment. Even if you don't like the songs at that website much, they're not very representative, so keep an open mind.
Also, if there's enough interest, I'll upload Amplifier Worship. Either that, or if you're more interested in hearing the ambient/softer stuff, I'll upload Flood.
And, I'm making this thread just in time for those lucky enough to have a stop in his city in Boris' 2006 tour. Don't miss it.
