I have two short questions or requests:
1. Can anyone post a picture(or link to an picture) of rim mounting - cymbal holder...
and
2. Do you have any ideas about how to make DIY mallet(soft tip) out of ordinary drumstick?

i did mallets just by taking a ton of yarn and kinda spooling it onto the stick they worked till i got bored then went outside and made flaming drumsticks

Why not go and buy mallets?
Anyways wrap a load of cloth round a stick and ducktape it.

Here's how I would do it...
Take a drumstick, put something really soft, like yarn around it, and attach it with glue or something so that you don't get any hard surfaces. See, with duct tape, you'll get a surface that sound like shiat.
So sculpt that into the size you want, and then take a piece of cloth and center the piece of cloth on the tip of the mallet. Then, pull the cloth down on all sides, and at the bottom of the head used a rubber band or string to tie it off. Viola, mallet. I think.

I made my mallets, and they are great...My crappy stagg china sounds beautiful when I play it with mallets. And I can get interesting stuff on my toms..all in all I'm very satisfied.
Here are some pictures and istructions...
I've cut some sponge:

Put it on sticks:

Then wraped it with some fabric

Cut of the excess fabric and tada!!!:

And what about that cymbal holder...or cymbal arm holder- how does it work? Maybe i make one of theese myself..so please post a picture or something...i couldn't find it anywhere..

For some reason I thought that was cheese before i read the text.
Just stick a lump of cheese on the end of a drum stick, a tasty solution to all lifes problems.
