Ok, so I just voted.
At least I think I did. Do any of you use those voting booths where you have to pull the lever to the right to close the curtain? And have to push a little lever down above the candidate's name to vote for them?
My mom said that the lever stays down until you exit the booth, but mine wouldn't stay down...so the machine either is different or broken and my vote didn't count...What is wrong with your country?
Here they give you a ballot, you go into a booth and make an X next to the candidate you want, you fold it and put it in the box.

Most countries export Tv-shows to the rest of the world (excluding america because you got no taste)
What? We export plenty of shows and the fact that the rest of the world pretty much eats it up shows we have some semblance of universal appeal.
So do other countries eat our **** up because it tastes bad?

Heh. Well ballot paper is recycled by elections Canada. Do you recycle the electricity that voting machines use? How bout those lovely punch cards?
The answer to those questions is a total ****ing waste of time. So please ignore me and get back to focusing your energy on ignoring the environment :)
Honestly though, Canada is probably as bad as the United States in terms of pollution. There is more of a political effort here to go "green" then there seems to be in much of the US, but with the World's economy on in the poopy toilet, its kind of on the back burner...
If you want to learn about Canada's environmental sins, do some research on Alberta's Oil Sands or on how much coal is still used to make electricity. Disgusting.

i personally couldn't care less about pot either. as long as you aren't doing it while driving or something stupid. it should be treated as alcohol.
but i mean come on, how is the gay marriage thing anything to care about.
I understand the abortion thing, but gay marriage really wont change anything about your own marriage.
how would i know? they've been taking place in san francisco and elsewhere for a while now, and nothing happened to my parents marriage or other straight couples, nothing happened in general except people got equal rights. So if for nothing else, just take up the position that they can get married because you don't care haha.
As for the abortion, i understand how it can get tricky and emotional at different stages and whether you are killing a thinking baby/ that is scary of course, but it is a woman's choice to abort and only within reasonable restrictions. why deny victims of poverty, ignorance, rape and incest? there needs to be more sex education, not taking away all abortion rights.

Anti-abortion is easier to justify than anti-gay marriage. Abortion hinges on what you consider a life. If a fetus is a life, then of course abortion is wrong.
Gay marriage is simply butting into other peoples affairs where you have no business and your opinion shouldn't matter.

This is true. Pretty much anything detailing actual practice, doctrine and recent operations is going to be next to impossible to dig up.
When I say that their record is the best though, I'm referring to mostly to the use of the regiment in World War 2 and am giving them some latitude because the idea was relatively new. Basically I'm just trying to recall information about the SAS from my class on Special Forces doctrine. During this time frame the SAS were used mostly for sabotage (destroying communications) ahead of large operations enjoying a high rate of success. From my understanding, this was a time in which the rest of the World's Special Forces were still largely undeveloped and the SAS was a work in progress. Most of the SAS operations in WW2 have since been declassified, and while some (such as Operation Chestnut) were failures, the paratrooper tactics proved to be very good for storming Islands at night time and commandeering control of light houses.
It wasn't until the 1970s (I forget the exact date) that the Delta force was developed, and even when it was, it was modeled on the SAS. I know this isn't overly detailed or persuasive, but honestly, I'm just to lazy to dig this stuff up again.

Yes, the SAS are probably one of the modern worlds oldest "special forces," but it is pretty difficult to say "who is the best" in this day and age. Afterall, the British and Australian SAS continually work with US Army Special Forces, Delta, SEALs, etc. SpecOps are much more of a global community and cross train all the time in today's world.
Besides, it all depends on what your objective is. If you want to take an oil rig in the middle of some hostile sea, the SEALs are probably your best bet. If you want to train local guerrilla forces/counter-guerrilla forces, the Army Special Forces or some other similar unit would be your better option. Each force really has their own special calling they excel at.
