there are some great movies, we have Shoot 'Em Up Sunday on Turner Classics channel that I get to see often
Fire Creek (1968) is one that come to mind, great film, kinda like Unforgiven, slow starting, tension but no release towards the end

anyone heard about this MRSA Staph infection?
just some numbers
* it killed more people than AIDS last year (close to 20,000 last year)
* one of the most antibiotic-resistant infections known to man
a HS close to where I live in NC was evacuated yesterday because of 6 football players that were diagnosed with it

Oh yeah.. Lotsa soft thick grass. They make nice sized bikes for kids but my daughter is tall. She is mistaken for 6 and/or 7 all the time. I'm a large dude so she takes after me. The lyrics go something 'her boyfrined's a d'ick, he brings a gun to school, And he'd simply kick my *** if... blah blah'. And the part that's censored in the song is the 'he brings a gun to school'. Not D'ick or A'ss, but 'he brings a gun to school'. Weird.

Also do you really want your daughter in a catholic school? Is this one of those "not ideal but it'll get her the best education" things, or a concious decision?

I've already nearly divorced my wife over this and while I don't want her in private school, I've given up that fight. The school is one of the highest rated schools in the area, and while I detest the fact it's a private catholic school, not only is it a fantastic educational facility, it's got the highest rate of kids who get scholarships, succeed in higher education etc etc..
So yeah. it's "not ideal but it'll get her the best education".

Yeah the only thing that I am worried about is the fact that the high school is an all girls school and it's terrible right now. All the kids have BMWs and Benzs and I don't roll like that no matter how much I earn.
My kid gets a shabang till she can afford to buy herself a car like that. I'm just hoping I'm a better parent that my daughter won't feel like she had to compete with other kids, even at the sake of being made fun of. Which she will be.

Work shirts are important. You wear them all day. They need to fit right, stay good after many washes, and be comfy.

The cheapest pair of shoes I currently own cost around 80 as well, and the most expensive shoes I own cost me around 320.
Any pair of shoes I ever paid 200 bucks and up for I have resoled, repaired and I take really good care of them. I have a pair of Coach loafers I've had for 7 years. They are the most amazing pair of shoes ever. As far as other "brand names" Rockports obviously, a few pairs of Borns which are like walking on heaven, and a few pairs of Brunos.. etc..

Well, learn about the stock market. Learn about electronic trading systems, you'll need some UNIX, some PC, some Wintel server, some hardware experience (swapping drives, cabling, switches, routers etc), learn how to take crap from traders, as well as give it right back, and be able to solve extremely complex problems in a minute or less and I promise you I will hire you. You will also need some project management, and the ability to stand in front of a crankly waspy trader and tell him he's wrong, and bear to stand up to hearing it. No quiet talkers, no lack of arrogance either. Weak bitches get chewed up quick in this biz.

Here's a transcript of that interview. Chris Matthews was also a guest so that is the Matthews.
Enjoy!
MAHER: All right. I should go to Garry Kasparov. He is waiting. For 14 years, he was the world’s top Chess Master – my old job. [laughter] Now, he’s a Russian political activist whose new book is called How Life Imitates Chess: Making the Right Moves From the Board to the Board Room. Garry Kasparov. Garry! [applause] How are you?
GARRY KASPAROV [via satellite]: Hi, Bill. I’m fine.
MAHER: Well, we could have used the KGB here a few minutes ago. [laughter]
KASPAROV: Yeah. Yeah.
MAHER: But, my hat is off to you, sir.
KASPAROV: [overlapping] I think Putin – Putin is delighted if he is listening to your program, because it’s another proof why live television should be banned. [laughter] As it is in Russia now.
MAHER: Okay. Touché. Checkmate. [laughter] But, in our country, we complain a lot about the political process in our presidential elections, but you are running in a presidential election – I think you are already the opposition candidate – where your life may, literally, be on the line. Is that an exaggeration? Do you fear for your life? Do you take precautions?
KASPAROV: I hope it’s an exaggeration. But, judging from our experience in Russia, anything can happen to me and to thousands of other activists in our country that are fighting the regime, because this regime has no allergy for blood. But, you know, they say in our country, to run for president takes some courage. When I look at the field of the candidates in this country, it seems that it takes even more courage not to run in the United States. [laughter]
MAHER: But, I understand that your – your family is sequestered in New Jersey?
KASPAROV: My daughter was born last year here in New York because we didn’t want to take any chance in Russia. But we’re not residing here. So we’re moving back and forth. I spend most of the time in Russia. My wife, my daughter, my mother-in-law are now here in America, but we’ll move in a week back to Russia.
MAHER: Do you think your fame protects you? Do you think you’re such an icon in Russia because of your past chess history that Putin would not kill you?
KASPAROV: I – no, I don’t think my name affords me an ultimate protection, but, unlike many other activists in Russia, I can rely on my name and on my fame. But, still I take some measures to minimize the risk. I have bodyguards in Russia. I do not fly Aeroflot. [laughter] I do not – I do not consume any food or liquid in the places that I am not fully aware of.
MAHER: Wow.
KASPAROV: But, again, it’s just minimizing the risk. I know that it may not offer me any ultimate protection if the worst comes to the worst.
MAHER: But, when you look at what’s going on in Russia, Putin has a very high approval rating. I mean, there is something in the—
KASPAROV: [overlapping] How – how do you know? [laughter] [applause] I mean, are you seriously – are you relying on the polling results in a police state? I – I think that with the same tight control of media and the pervasive security force, I believe Bush and Cheney could enjoy the same approval rating here. [laughter] [applause] [cheers]
MAHER: Checkmate to me. [laughter]
KASPAROV: I’m not – I’m not giving them any ideas, by the way.
MAHER: [overlapping] But, don’t you think – but, come on, there is something in the Russian soul that loves a strong man. I mean, Yeltsin did not—
KASPAROV: [overlapping] No, no, no. Wait-wait-wait. This is total nonsense. You know, it’s just – it’s refuted by history. If you look, for instance, at two Koreas. You have North Korea, is just one big concentration camp; and South Korea, it’s a flourishing market economy and democracy. And it’s the same people.
You can look at Taiwan and China. And I could give many other examples. For instance, East Germany and West Germany 25 years ago. I don’t think there’s anything in the national soul that makes some people are not ready for democracy and some are…fitting for this quality. [applause] And when I look at the – at this administration that is trying to build democracy in Iraq at the expense of democracy in Russia, I got confused. [applause]
MATTHEWS: Guy’s great, great!
MAHER: When I saw this week, Putin – the picture of Putin with Ahmadinejad of Iran—
KASPAROV: Wow.
MAHER: [overlapping]—I thought, you know, here, once again, President Bush has succeeded in uniting our enemies and dividing our friends. You’ve got to admit, at least your guy isn’t stupid. [laughter]
KASPAROV: Yeah, I – I don’t think it makes me feel comfortable just accepting the fact that he outplayed your guy. [laughter] [applause] [cheers]
MATTHEWS: Unbelievable.
KASPAROV: But, it went – but, it went wrong for Bush from the very beginning, because at their first summit, Bush tried to play psychiatrist and look at Putin’s eyes, searching for his soul. [laughter]
MAHER: Right.
KASPAROV: Instead of looking – looking at his record. And now, Putin – Putin just is basically spitting in his face by making this open friendship with Admadinejad. But it was obvious from the very beginning, because Putin has only one item in his due political agenda. He needs high oil prices. And tension in the Middle East helps him to keep the oil prices all-time high.
MAHER: Right.
KASPAROV: So that’s why he sells nuclear technology to Iran; he sells missiles to Hezbollah and Hamas via Syria, because it helps Putin to stay in power. If the oil price goes down, Putin regime goes down. And I’m surprised that White House didn’t recognize it in time. [laughter] [applause]
MATTHEWS: Jesus.
MAHER: I’m not. [he laughs] Now, one last question. I found out this week – I didn’t realize this – that the torture – and, of course, they say it’s not torture that we do, but it is, of course, torture – that our people are doing, is based on Soviet models. And, I know you grew up under the former regime that probably looked to America as a beacon of hope and freedom. When you see America wiretapping and torturing and basically doing the things the Soviets used to do, what goes through your mind?
KASPAROV: Look, I don’t think it’s about sad events that you just described, because I think that America had sad stories in the past as well. But, in seventies and eighties, America looked as a hope for oppressed people in the communist world. Well, now, America, that is applying double standards to different countries in the world, lost its credibility. And that’s bad news for all of us, because it was a stronghold for democracy. And now, it’s just a country which, according to many, is using democracy as a due political tool to promote its own interests. Which is working against us in Russia and elsewhere. [applause]
MAHER: All right, Chess Master. I give. You win. Thank you, Garry Kasparov. Very interesting.
KASPAROV: Thank you, Bill.
MAHER: He’s something, huh?
MATTHEWS: He’s great!
MAHER: He is great. Why can’t he run in the Iowa…?
MATTHEWS: He ought to be – do you ever get the feeling that they’re playing chess and we’re playing checkers? [laughter]
MAHER: Yeah.

Invading Iran is monumentally stupid. Can't they just carpet bomb it?

No, because unless they use nuclear weapons, it will pretty much take forever to do anything effective.

They can just, bomb and they will. Daisy cutters, the MOAB, and there is a new vacuum bomb the US just developed, in response to Russia's development of a vacuum bomb, that is the most powerful non-nulcear bomb.

Free health care? Your 3rd world class free health care is the last thing Americans need. in USA most people have private health care with the best medical care available on earth. So I am doing a project for my stats class, and I have to find a graph on the hypothesis of Due to an increase in core temputre there has been an increase in natural disasters. So my question is, what would be a good website to visit, I have already looked at a few websites by Al Gore and David Suzkui.
