Looks pretty nice man. What kind of bow you got? Are you trying to make String Bass a hobby or something more?

To White: 2700 dollar with the works, bow stand case, ROSIN!

to Tenor: I am hoping to get into maybe the orchestra at school, but just as a learning thing, I really want to play jazz bass.

It's brand new

congrats man, looks sharp.

ive been lookin into an upright latly... a guy down the street (my friends brother) is selling his upright for about $2,000... it's real nice, the wood is freaking fantastic... comes with 2 bow's and rosin w/ the cloth sheilding thingy and a gig bag (it's so weird seeing a gigbag for an upright?!) i believe it's 3/4 size...

3/4 is standard size. What kind is it? because it might need a full setup on it... which costs lots of money....
I got a gig bag for mine, it's interesting carrying it around because you carry it infront of you.

Rosin is a cool word.

...i saw it, but i cant remember it now. i dont believe it needed set up, he kept in great condition but hasent really played / gigged in a few months now.. just occasionly goes to tidy it up now and then, keep dust off n' such....

i couldn't imagine carrying it in a gig bag? haha...

I was in Orchestra for 3 years and played an upright. It was pretty fun stuff. And yea, there's "gig bags" for uprights, you just grab both the straps on the side and carry it infront of you.

in rufus reids book, the essentials i think its called, he shows you how to store and upright on an airplane.... haha... great book to start learning from by the way, upright is so much fun to play, i wish i had more money, i would get one so fast... a used one that is, possibly hungarian made, i have been looking for a very long time

I need to play a good upright one of these days. Only one I ever played was my old schools horrific one. It was grade A crap. Battered to buggery and has an action so high aeroplanes have to change their flightpath when in the vicinity.

Nice buy.

That's a cat? I was gonna say the bass doesn't really fit in the gig bag does it?

Heres a cheap way to record, it may not sound the greatest but its is cheap and sounds decent enough.
Make one of these http://home.earthlink.net/~erinys/contactmic.html and tape it to your bridge or puut underneath bridge feet.

Thats also a good way to make an electric drum set from practice pads (with a few more steps)
