if you were the producer of the film, what bass would you give to her?

and also, in a website that i saw, there's a bass solo in the film! the director just removed it!

I knew there was going to be bitching that there was a guitar, drum, and keys solo and no bass solo.

Well guess what? Bass isn't any cooler, it doesnt sound any better, and it doesnt have any potiential for solos than ANY OTHER ****ING INSTRUMENT IN TH ENTIRE ****ING WORLD!

naut

exactly, and the same can be said for all other instruments. which is why many ask...why was there a solo for every other instrument but not bass?

i could care less either way, i just don't understand.

I think a jazz bass would be fine. Also, the key solo at the end of that film is the lamest thing i have ever heard.

Woah there dude, calm down. No one said that. How does thinking their should be a bass solo since every over instrument gets a solo implying you think bass is the best instrument.

Appearantly the solo was cut because it was too muddy, which I can see it being.
It kind of annoys me that the girl in the movie is actually a guitarist.

didnt the film end with her playing either a epi gothic Tbird, or a Gibson Blackbird?. The movie was sponsered by gibson, and so most, of the guitars that get signaficant film time were gibson or gibson products. If i had a choice, i would have given her a shortscale of some kind, maybe a Fender Mustang, or epi Eb1.

:edit: on second thought, def the mustang bass, theres too much gibson in that movie:thumb:

A red 4001, I think.

I have such a love/hate thing with that movie, though. The cello/bass thing, how they skip out him giving her a cd like the other members of the band, the fact that the bassist has like two lines in the entire film, and of course the lack of a solo at the end (who ever heard of backup vocalists getting solos?) all make me furious. But, the general musical message is pretty good, and Jack Black rocks so I don't know whether to love it or hate it.

yeh, i love school of rock, its about the only movie i watched, then immediately watched again, then two days later watched about 4 times in a row. heh, if they had given the bass girl more stuff, that would rank as my favorite rock movie ever.

By that logic she should have John Turner's Double Neck.

As much as I love Evil Dead, my favorite low-budget/indie flick ever is Vincent Gallo's Buffalo '66. I don't think I've met another person that's even heard of it before, except my brother who introduced me to it. If you can get ahold of it, I highly recommend watching it.

I love that movie, but it can get a little annoying at parts. Luckily, the annoying parts are outweighed by the fact that they actually did play good music and so it was overall a good message. I could have seen them making the title track some really stupid cheesey pop song.

katana_manatee

It is a cool film but it does tend to lean towards the bass isn't cool stereotype but glorifies practically everything else. I was annoyed at the lack of bass solo due to the fact everyone else got a solo, and what kind of message does that give?

Still, great film apart from that, I only saw it once in the cinema but I might watch it again someday. I'm not a person that watches the same film again and again within a short period of time, I generally watch a film and don't watch it again for over a year at least. I need to forget some of it to enjoy it again.

I remember I went to see Queen of the Damned years ago when it first came out and I loved it at the time, then a few weeks after I first saw it, I saw it again and I was bored throughout most of it. Bah.

Radiobass81
04-30-2006, 09:16 AM
I don't mind the lack of bass solo. Rather not having one than having a horrible muddy one by which we will be judged for years, I say.

Besides, it's not even that good of a movie.

Said by many a bassist I think.

I am just a little annoyed at the fact everyone but the bassist got a solo in the film, it kinda makes bass out to be boring, which a lot of people think. I think the excuse of it sounding muddy is a load of balls, they could easily have played around with the EQ of the bass track, not hard at all, instead they leave it out. Just shows the attitude to it if you ask me.

If you guys care the drummer of the film goes to school in my area and from what I gathered by seeing him play live at parties, playing shows with him, and talking to him (he was in a band called third estate with the brother of my current drummer) Kevin was an *** and a ****ty drummer. I know this was totally random but the majority of the film is just a studio group and the kids dont even play their **** (other then the singers and the piano player)
