i dont know what just happened. yesterday when i was playn my bass, my amp and bass were working perfectly. no humm/ feedback (idk the diff). but today i plug in. it sounds like my speakers will blow. im picking up a radio stations. Im pretty sure its not my bass becuase when i unplug my bass the humm is 1000x worse. and i dont think it is my amp because all 3 of my amps do the same thing. so i narrower it down to either a cord problem or a ground problem. ive tried to wiggle the cord around it doesnt make a difference. and as for the ground. all the amps are plugged into the same plugin so im gonna try that. but i dont think itll help.

what do you guys think it is?

Whenever my amp is picking up cable TV (as my friends would call it) it's because of the cord most of the time. Try a different cord or something.

ok. thanks.

also. my amp is sitting right in front of my computer. so that could be it too i suppose. but it has always been there...

Test a different power outlet (is that the word)? I.e. a different pair of holes in the wall. ^^

Hum is an annoying ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing/buzz type sound:

Feedback is an ear piercing screeching sound:

Don't point you bass, particularly the pickups in the direction of any electronics- monitors, radios, televisions. Anything that gives off an RF signal is likely to be picked up by the pups.

Make sure your instrument cable isn't coiled up or damaged too.

I've never picked up radiostations, but whenever I sit close to my computer I get some nasty hum.

allright. update. this is weird. i did not do anything with my amp or anything different. and i left for a few hours came back and tried it. practically no hum. now i only get a buzz when i turn my volume knob only when its not full volume or no volume. the other tone knobs and actice electronics on or off dont affect it at all.

im just thinking of anything that could be doing this.
could it be from the washer/dryer directly above me?
