HEy my band had a gig last week which was taped on a handicam. The gig went really well and IMO we played pretty good that night. The problem is that the sound of the video is distorted with tons of bass. It seems as if there was some sort of problem with the camera's mic because the bass was not that loud on the mix.
So, is there any way I can fix this problem?? What program would help me eq the recording so I can reduce the bass?
Thanks, I would really like to clean up the sound a bit.

there's no way in hell to fix that because the mic can only pick up so much sound, and you gave it more than it could handel so it recorded just a bunch of clipping that cannot be fixed. You could try to EQ it and compress it, but it will still sound like crap.

I suspected as much. It's a shame, I hope we'll get another chance sometime soon.
Thanks a lot anyway. :thumb:

when you tape your next gig, record the sound from the mixer and mute the sound on the video then edit proper sound in.

the best live venue in my area actually offers live recording services for all shows held there. They run it directly out of the sound board to a recording device. You don't get independent track control, but you get the same levels the FOH (front of house) was getting, so its a really good representation of what you sounded like in the live environment.
Unfortunately for your situation the problem comes from the fact that the mic on a camera simply can't handle very much input before it clips/distorts/overloads... etc. etc. etc.

we were gonna get the sound out of the soundboard, but given that the abss an d one guitar were not plugged in but where using just the amps instead, we were forced to record with the handicam.
Live and learn I guess. :upset:
