Why doesn't Pantera have an official thread? Is it because Dimebag is dead?

Well, I think Pantera should have a thread, they're one of the greatest metal bands of the nineties, and one of my favourites of all time.

I do have one question, is there as Suicide Note Pt1? I've only ever heard PT2. Anyways, I hope you will make this into the official thread.

RIP Dime

There's been a few Pantera threads, but they all seem to die which is a shame. I guess there's rarely anything new to discuss.

Yeah there is a Suicide Note Pt. 1, they are both on The Great Southern Trendkill.

There are rumours around that a pantera tribute CD SI in the works

Rumors have been circulating around the internet that a select number of bands have decided to record a Pantera tribute album, in memory of Dimebag Darrell. After what seemed like years of awaiting to see if the rumors were true, it seems like it has been worth the wait. 16 well-known artists have now gone into the studio to record Vulgar Display of Reinvention: A Tribute to Pantera, including some pioneer acts from the thrash scene such as Slayer, Anthrax and Testament. Although no tracks have yet been recorded, a tracklisting of what will appear on the album has been revealed to be

Anthrax - Revolution Is My Name
Fear Factory - Use My Third Arm
Machine Head - Cowboys From Hell
Hatebreed - Strength Beyond Strength
Shadows Fall - I'm Broken
Sevendust - Walk
Helmet - This Love
Chimaira - Throes Of Rejection
Grip Inc. - Mouth For War
Testament - Heresy
Children Of Bodom - Slaughtered
Soulfly - Primal Concrete Sledge
Megadeth - Floods
Lamb Of God - A New Level
Slayer - Regular People
Mudvayne - Cemetary Gates

The album will open with Anthrax covering Revolution Is My Name, one of the more popular songs from the album Reinventing The Steel (see REVIEWS). They will be joined by former bandmate and brother of Dimebag, Vinnie Paul Abbott, as he wishes to record the drum track for this particular song. This decision was reached when Vinnie Paul turned down an offer to take up the drums for Anthrax's next record, and instead agreed to help create and play on a Pantera tribute album.

"Although many fans may see it as being disrespectful to some extent, I think it's a great way for the world to say goodbye to Brother Dime properly." Vinnie continues, "And the bands I've asked to come help out are all bands I know he loved, and I know they're gonna kick *** and show us that they can continue the legacy that will never die...PANTERA!"

No release date has been set, although there is an estimate that it will appear in stores around Christmas this year.

That i got off some other forum

if its true ... how kick *** will it be to see Testament cover Heresy

EDIT: Or even, why do Pantera not have an official thread?
I do have one question, is there as Suicide Note Pt1?That's the acoustic one isn't it?

I'm lovin' Pantera as of late. Domination contains probably one of the best solos ever. I might *attempt* to learn it soon.

I'm getting a Dimebag tattoo.

No, actually he was right, a band should be reffered to as a singular thing (I think).

I really want to see the performance of Cemetery Gates at Gigantour with Dream Theater, Burton C Bell and Dave Mustaine. I have heard it might be put on a Gigantour DVD that will be released sometime.

Pantera is not everything.... Damageplan (although they recorded only once album) were great - i liked them and was looking for further albums, but now it seems they will never come.

The reason why there isn't a big Pantera thread is because there's not much to discuss about them, seeing as how both Pantera and Damageplan(I'm pretty sure) are over. What's left to discuss besides the past?

There's still quite a bit of discussion in the Beatles thread, but I see what you mean.

Is Superjoint Ritual still together?

Make this the official thread of Pantera and all the other bands that the mambers had.

I like Pantera. Vulgar's my favorite album.

But the one reason that these threads don't work out too well is because it becomes a "RIP Dime" thread. We all know he died and we're all sad or were sad about it, but it doesn't need to be said every post.

Yeah man i can sense what ya mean, i was bashing Pantera and Damageplan days before he died :(

It gave me the incentive to listen to them again and i felt like a c*nt because i realised it was great music and a part of my early teenage life came from it. Funny how it takes a death to put everything in focus.

I started liking them like a week before he died.

Damn, I didn't even know it was him at first. I don't tend to check out band members names/what they look like until i wanna google them or something, so whenevery one was like "dimbag died!" i was like "what who"

So I never really got a chance to start liking them before he died :(

Alright, I just got Suicide note Pt 1... I've had it labelled wrong before.

And I'm pretty sure that Superjoint isn't together any more. I'm pretty sure that Phil is/was doing a solo project. I remember reading something about it shortly after Dimebag was killed.

I've also heard that DamagePlan intends to release a new CD. There are a lot of tracks that Dime already had recorded, the solos may be done by Zakk Wylde, who may play on the album in tribute of his friend.

And I haven't heard of Rex lately, is Crowbar still around?

No, I just find it funny how people don't feel the need to contribute anything this thread save "rip dime". We know he's dead, it was tragic, he was a great guitarist, but if he's not resting in peace by now, then he won't ever be.

theyre just paying their respects, lay off.

pantera own. i have every album. beautiful. they are great. i was only recently shown how glam they were, and i have to say that i would have never have linked their music to what they dressed themselves up in. so i couldn't care less about it, the clothing doesnt matter to me. many people hate them because of their style and appearance, but i couldn't care less, no matter how embarrassing it can be.

pantera are good, but after awhile the screaming DOES get a little old. however, there is no doubt dime was a talented shredder, but what would've happened if he was still alive? would he be considered as good, or worse? or would he have drifted into the past like metallica and megadeth??? and is time real? whats the meaning of life?

1. no meaning of life. humanity isnt full of facts which still makes it full of beliefs and opinions.

2. there is no real time because time is the key factor in life. time is what makes life unexpecting. thats why there is no real meaning of life.

3. if dime didnt die people would have not expressed their real feelings about dime. another reason why people make it a big deal is because people who were close to him like vinnie alex VH ect. will miss the good times with dime

[1] the second sentence isn't relevant to the first.
[2]*doesn't make sense* ...but time is incomprehendable along with every other aspect of physical science, because we know virtually nothing of it.
[3]i suppose

you started off with some good points, but then started talking utter bollocks. Metallica didn't drift into the past, unfortunately. and the Pantera thread is not the place for the philisophical questioning of life. you are mistaken.
