Ok, so mother nature wasn't very cooperative with me lately. But today, i had time off (no work today o.O) and the sun was out, so i swept the porch patio thingy and hauled the kit out for some piccies!

I had to bring out the stagestar kick because otherwise it looked really lopsided. Should be soon, i hope, that the 2nd kick is in its place!

I think the snare looks great. Good to contrast the flat black.
The whole kit is very cool. Although the left side (from drivers seat) looks very spread out and hard to get around.
Good to hear your prom was fun. Pretty early, Junior prom I assume?
Chippy569
04-25-2006, 06:46 PM
yeah i'm a junior, and our school has always had prom the weekend after easter.
the porch is just outside my window, and up a floor is my 'rents room. I shot the behind-the-seat shot from my room, the OH is out my 'rents window. there's also another raised porch around the corner over the right side that i stood on for the vertical shot.
I love the snare, though a newer, bigger, badder, 14x7" is in the works.

How do you have your hi-hat set up? I'm still in the market for another bass drum, and I was about to buy one the other day ($350), but I realized I had no way of setting my hi-hats up that way. I know pearl has a bass-to-hi-hat clamp, but its something ridiculous like $40 for such a small piece of hardware, and the bass drum is pretty expensive anyway, so i decided against it.
anyway, are there specific stands that are easy to keep next to the bass drum without being folded up? Or is my best bet to just suck it up and buy the clamp along with the bass drum

for that pic, i took my tama IC (it's got two rotating legs) and rotated them far left, but i aim to get one of those pedal-to-drum attachments (tama makes one for 30 or so on massmusic.net).

otherwise, Gibraltar makes a legless hat stand that might do the trick for 'ya.

Chippy, what can I say bro? I love your set. Theres not one imperfection on it. I am jealous of you for multiple reasons
1. Your kit owns
2. You have a patio big enough to put your drums on
3. By the looks of it, your yard is invisible from neighbors
4. Your girlfriend looks like my ex girlfriend for some reason.
All I gotta say is, you are one lucky bitch man.

Sry how is he lefthanded? the toms scale downwards to the right... like a right handed kit...
*Edit* Realllly nice kit, never picked this up b4 but did u design the tribal art thing on ur avatar nd bass head?
Chippy569
04-26-2006, 03:35 PM
no, it's kanji (read: chinese), says "Love"
i've also got one that roughly translates to "peace" or "harmony" for the 2nd kick when it comes.
I am lefthanded, i play openhanded (notice the ride BEHIND and under the hats?), meaning my left on hats and ride, my right on snare.
Dave, yeah.... the cure is $!

Lookin' great Chippy...
Couple comments - by the looks of the stick marks on your 2nd floor, you may want to push it out a little further, when I first got my kit with the 2 floors, I kept it in failry close, but found the way I twisted to hit it became uncomfortable, I started to slowly push it away, and it has become much more comfortable, and I'm hitting it closer to center.
Personally - I'd stay away from the clamps as a solution for your hi-hats with the double kick - especially when working with wood hoops, there just so much vibration there, I'm worried about damaging the rims - save up for the leg-less deal, mine was $125 or so...
In each scenario, keep in mind I am just trying to help - it's your preference, right?
Yup, I'm off to the Bozzio / Wackerman clinic ...

Ah i c how it's open handed, but were u taught to play right handed? I find it challenging to scale down right because i play with my left hand first naturally.
I started with mine scaling down left i'll try nd host a few pics.
