I'm in between choosing right now, the problem is that i can't actually see them before i buy.
So this is where you come in.
I'm in between, PR Nutcases, Pearl Caes, and Mapex cases.
Which do you recommend, are the Nutcases good?
Thanks.

i don't really know much about those cases but i would reccomend bags instead, and for bags id say go with protection racket. But as for those i would say go for the nutcases i guess.

^^ bags don't necessarily protect against pointy guitars scratching your toms as they move about in the back of a van /m/
Cases are the best form of protection for your investment. However threadstarter, I would not recomend any of those brands. I've been using SKB cases for years now, they've never let me down (the higher end line). I have friends that have had great experience over the years with Humes & Berg, and Enduro as well. I would recomend any of those 3 brands. Remember to eat plenty of Oats my sont!

Hmm, the only problem is that i'm on a budget.
And i need cases soon, i have £130 for drum cases and a hardware case :(.
It dosen't have to be amazing stuff, i can easily upgrade later on, but i really need some now.

Why not save more and buy hardcases, otherwise mapex or nutcases.
i'm not sure if the stagg hard cases have been released yet but those could be an option

I know you are asking for cases, but if you're on a limited budget, I'd recommend Gator soft cases [bags]. They have treated my drums very well, so far. As daveplaysdrums pointed out, they won't protect against anything falling on the drums, but it shouldn't be a big concern. I got mine for under $100US on MassMusic.net [don't remember the exact price].

Yeah i need to buy myself some drum bags before next friday. I'm lugging my new Yamaha kit to the gig, its only in the back of a car so soft cases will do it for me. Can you buy cases individually or do they generally come in packs?

You can buy them individually...and personally, I would go for Bigdog bags :)

Big Dog, Protection Racket, or Hardcase. Those are my top 3.

My Tribal Plannet bags are still decent for transporting in a car.

Protection Racket cases are semi - hard they are tough enough to protect your drums , top notch , I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THEM

I believe SKB offers a 5 piece case deal now, I may be mistaken tho. Definiatly save up the money and buy SKB's. You should see my cases, they have gouges of plastic missing from them, and are beat to pieces. My drums are perfect, not a blemish or mark on them.
You get what you pay for, buy the SKB's one at a time until you have the whole kit covered, thats what I did. My double kick kit is covered in addition to 2 rolling trap cases and 3 cymbal vaults. I didn't buy all of that at one time, it took me the course of a year to get em all.....

I like my pro-tec bags myself. Never had anything manage to scratch through them. I have the "deluxe" line for all my drums. Although they are kinda pricey..
They wont protect from say a guitar amp falling on the drums, but if thats a danger you face I'd look into that firstly :P

Hard Case make great cases. I have toured the plant in England. I use Impact cases and bags from the USA

Trust me man, SKB and Road Ready cases are what you want.
If a company can warrant the case you buy FOR LIFE, then you know its gotta be a pretty solid product. Road ready too does the same thing.
SKB is currently under military and US government contracts too. I use them and they are TOUGH!
Drop your snare drum from 4 or 5 feet and see what happens to it in a bag. Invest in a good case you you don't have to worry.

Thing is if this guy wants to waste money on a set of cases he'll have to upgrade anyway he might as well get the cheapest ones.
I mean hardcases can cost £300+ for a full set.

Yeh, the problem is, is that i really don't have any more thank £150. I know that's tight, and i know i shjould just 'save up more' but i really can't afford to at the moment.
All i want are some decent, cheapish cases that will get my drums to band practise and back.
I'm leaning towards Nutcases, i love Protection Racket, i've used them nay times, so i doubt these would let me down.
I'm looking into everything that has been mentioned to though.
Cheers.

Also, what is the inside of Hardcases like?
Have they got any padding in? If they don't, surely the drums would shake about?
