Well as some of you may know, Carl Palmer, legendary drummer from Emerson Lake and Palmer and Asia, came to my school today. Around 30 of us got to talk to him about the music industry and what it's like as a profession. He told us about contracts, what it was like for him playing, touring and loads more and I learnt that he is a great guy. It realwly shows about how far music can get you. 30 million records, 9 weeks and number one etc etc.
At the end of the 45 minutes chat he was looking at the music room that we were in and saw the drums. One of my mates asked him to play something so I seized the opportunity and gave him my drumsticks! He is such an amazing player! I have my sticks signed too so I don't think I will ever play with them again.
A guy from the local paper came and he interviewed two guys in the year above me and there might be pictures of me and a few of my mates smiling as Carl played an amazing solo. Worth disrupting an assembly for!
Later on tonight I am going to a masterclass and a performance from him, the young drummer of the year 2005 and a percussion duet. Hopefully I will get great pics and they will probably be up by tommorrow same time as now.
