They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget.

On this date, 91 years ago, Australia entered its first war as a unified country. Thousands of brave men landed at the beach in Gallipoli, Turkey, to protect the interests of the Allies. Arguably the best-defended enemy stronghold in WWI, it is ironic that the most poorly trained troops available to the Allies were chosen to assault it. Thousands of men lived and died on that beach, but they did not die in vain. The ANZAC legend lives on, through every war, in every person.

I went to the dawn service this morning, and I was, as always, touched to the quick. I'm still riding on the surge of patriotism I felt, and because of this, I'm offering some Aussie rock songs to you all, as my small way of contributing to the memory of the ANZACs.

So, post your emails if you would like to recieve them, and it'd be nice if those of you not familiar with Gallipoli or the Kokoda Trail could research it and see for yourselves the terrible sacrifice of Australia in those times.

...And a big, dramatic salute from myself.

To a country I've never been to but have always wanted to visit. Maybe I'll get the chance to drop by someday.

I'd post my email, but I can't DL anything.

I only managed to observe a minutes silence this morning, so no dawn service for me. The Kokoda Trail is something I'd like to walk at some point in my life though. I think it'd be a really fulfilling experience.

Anyway, put me down for some songs, and I'll see what I don't already have. gregbyers@ gmail.com

Awesome. I was hoping I'd be able to get my hands on The Last Post. Thanks Riva.

Silverchair being described as an Australian version is a little unfair as well. Frogstomp showed some real maturity considering it was written by 15 year olds. Shade is perfect example of that.

Also, if anyone likes the John Farnham track, go sign up to the Pop Mailing list now. ;)

I wonder if that movie will make an American release.

Colonial Punx Unite.

I imagine it might make its way over there. It's a big-budget one, not like most Aussie films.

"In war, there are no winners, only losers"

Or if you like a music connection

"Never forget, those fallen heroes, never again"

You get the jist.
