What song to cover? Metalcore band

Hey, I'm in a metalcore band called Breach The Gates, http://www.purevolume.com/breachthegatesnj , and we need one cover so taht we have a 7 song set to start playing gigs. We're just wonder what song we should cover that fits our style. You can listen to our new song "The August Gales" wich displays our style of music.

So please suggest some songs, we really want to start playing so gigs and become part of the local music scene.

we do a cover of Lady in a blue dress by senses fail wich is out of our genre, that why we want a metalish cover to bllance it out.

I agree with the outside you genre. That will show people you aren't close minded about music, which is something that I look for and so do many of my friends.

well, my metalcore band covers lean on me. sometime's it works well to take a classic and mold it to your band's sound. For more examples, check out Evergreen Terrace's "Writer's Block" (not positiveif they're hardcore or metalcore, but meh, similar enough and it conveys the example)

(essentially, I don't really know much good metalcore to suggest. at least not much that is actually known)

Also, as a suggestion, try covering a song that people in your scene know, but the band isn't a part of your scene (though they might play a few shows in your area). If people like the band and song, you'll get a great response.

we do a cover of chapter 4 by A7x. We are thinking of maybe doing a NoFx song, Seperation of church and skate. Or posably a RHCP song but we dont know if that will go over well.

Evergreen Terrance isn't metalcore either... nor is A7X. Go download "The Saddest Day" by Converge. Cover that. :)

Lol this guy is looking for metalcore bands to play, then he himself suggest My chemical romance or saosin (mcr is mainsteam pop-punk, commonly mis-referred to as "emo", and saosin is a form of post-hardcore/pop-punk, once again commonly mis-reffered to as "emo")

If you want a REAL metalcore song, play something by Agony Scene. Maybe a cover of their cover of "Paint it Black".

just because the songs we write are metalcore dosent mean we dont liek otehr genres, we're pretty open minded about it. We are thinking about maybe It Dies Today or As i Lay Dying wich is close to what we play. But ill take a look at paint it black and see.
