Hey guys, my band is planning on buying a set of Peavey PV 215 Dual Speaker Cabinets:

The question is, what is a dencent power amp I could buy for around $200 (US) to run these speakers. All help is greatly appreciated.

I think you'd have to double or maybe even triple your budget if you're expecting to be able to get something decent.

As a minimum, I'd personally go for something like this:

This is assuming that your own applications wont require anything more than 2x 600 watts tho.

But of course if you ever find youself having to turn the amp up so loud that it starts to occasionally clip then you're much better off getting rid of that poweramp and buying one with more headroom (watts) instead.

^^^ I use that amplifier and can honestly say its been great to have. Use it to drive 2 100 watt 15" Cabs and it has plenty of head room. When we upgrade our PA, we'll be buying more of these.

Nice. You will be happy with the PV 215's. What are you gonna run through them?

As I mentioned before, I have the PV 215's. I power them with 500 watts to each cabinet using an emx5000-12 powered mixer. It does the job, but I will be adding subs in the future for that extra punch. I will probably still use the mixers built in amps to power the PV 215's, and buy a separate power amp to power the subs.

That Crown amp above looks like it would be a good match for your cabinets. Look for any good brand amp(Crown, QSC, Yamaha, Peavey) with a power range from 500-700 watts/channel@4 ohms.

Good luck
