Ok, straight to the topic. I would like to learn how to tap. To be perfectly honest i know nothing about how to do it - hence me asking for help.
Ultimatley i would love someone to make an instructive video showing how to do it, or even better if they could give a really good explenasion.
All help will be appreciated.
Cheers, simon!

it's really simple, you just use both hands to push down on frets, as if you were playing a piano, left hand (fret hand) in normal position, and right hand normally facing down, (ie opposite to other hand). Start with moonlight sonata, it's really easy to pick up, easier than slapping, but like everything it's hard to do well.

to threadstarter, try this:
|---------16-----------|----------17--------|-------21--------
|----------------------|-----11--------------|---9----------
|------9-------17------|--10---------18-----|--7------22-----
|--7-------------------|---------------------|--------------

in addition to this, specifically, you should be tapping with the tips of your fingers, not the pads. have your thumb anchoring on the top of the neck as well, with your hand pretty vertical. this all might not be the easiest route, but it makes for the cleanest technique

These videos might help: http://www.youtube.com/results?search=tapping+mini+course&search_type=search_videos
I wouldn't really suggest Moonlight Sonata as a beginners tapping piece, if you were to play it properly you would need to start using your pinky right away and it is especially tricky because in the intro you need to play the 13th fret on the D string with your pinky after playing the 11th fret with your middle finger, and this is very tricky coordination to start tapping.
Something like country music would be much easer I think. That is by Stuart Hamm also.
