My guitarist friend and I have had these songs floating around for months now and I'd really like to hear other musicians' opinion on them.

Myspace address: http://www.myspace.com/celestialfireband

Direct links are below.

The first we call "The Nocturne" and is a gothic-themed rocker. No vocals (or lyrics) yet unfortunitely. I wrote the majority of it (except the riff in the second half of the song and the second solo) and play bass/keyboard on it. My friend played guitar and since we have no drummer, the drum track is digital.

This one is a cover of Rush's Tom Sawyer that we did a long time ago. I'm not quite happy with some parts of it, especially the synth...sounds a little misplaced. Still, I think we did a fairly decent job with it.

Next up is a song called Midnight Sky. This is a very ambient-sounding piece, which picks up near the end with some solos.

Last is Aquamarine, a watery-themed song which is probably more complex than anything we've recorded so far.

Those are the only ones we've actually made real recordings for so far.

Comments/critiques welcome. :)

Nobody wants to comment? I haven't had much of a chance to get impressions of our songs, so any opinions at all will be really appreciated.

Thought I'd give this thread another bump, crossing my fingers for a reply this time. :p

We remixed The Nocturne with more realistic drums to improve the quality. Check it out if you like:

Even though I have yet to receive any kind of feedback at all (positive or negative), I thought I'd ask for some comments on our newest song. It's called Midnight Sky.

Edit: I also uploaded it on our myspace, if you want to hear it there.

More people should listen to this. They are pretty good!
You have a very...videogame sound to it, but I guess its the way its recorded.
Loving The Nocturne.
I'm gonna give this 5 stars so more people hopefully give it a view. Keep it up!

Thanks. :)

It isn't just the recording method that makes us sound video-gameish, I think. I'm actually heavily influenced by video game music and we kinda mix that with rock to produce our sound.

The only one I've listened to so far is "The Nocturne" and I have it say, it sounds awesome. It is very video-gamish sounding. Sounds like it'd be played on some type of horror game, like batteling zombies or something. I loved the guitar and the keyboard, and even the digital drums. It all went together real well.

the nocturne was pretty cool... it does have that videogame feel to it.. not diggin it too much.. but it sounds okay. very nice musical arrangements in it.

nice melodies in midnight sky.. gets boring very fast though.. maybe throw something in there to make it a little more interesting. overall it was an good song.

Yea, I do agree that Midnight Sky can get kinda boring. The reason probably being is that it was made for vocals and there are none. Neither me or my friend can sing or even really write lyrics that well, unfortunitely. Vocalists seem to be hard to find. :(

Thanks for all the comments so far guys, I really appreciate them. We have a new song up for you all to check out. Myspace isn't accepting new uploads until late tonight, but we have it up on our server. The opening song is The Dive, which I posted before...but after that it goes into the new one.
