Okay first I'll give my current set up.
Snare: Remo Amb batter, stock reso
Toms (12" 13" 16"): Remo Pinstripes batter, stock reso
Bass: Stock batter, stock reso
After tonight (probably)
Snare: Remo Amb batter, stock reso and overtune ring (to get rid of this overtune from the rims)
Toms (12" 13" 16"): Evans G2 Coated batter, stock reso (possibly overtune rings as well)
Bass: Stock batter, stock reso
But would G2's be fairly easy to tune? I know there is a wide range of sound you can get with G2's but are they easy to tune. Like my pinstripes, were easy to tune.
All and all this will hopefully only be around $35 otherwise, well I only have $40 to spend, and from the looks of it, on music123 the heads are about $11 each so the store I'm going to (also has my lessons there) sells my promarks for the same price music123 sells them. I havn't looked at heads there yet but I've seen a wall of Evans so they should have them but anyway, yeah, do you think that set up would make me happy for now? I'm probably going to get a Evan EQ3 for the bass next then probably Clear G1's for the toms reso
So yes, any feedback is appreciated, but if you are going to try to talk me out of this. Don't go "YOU ****ING DUMB ***" be nice, and I'll listen if you're an *** I'll probably just argue with you.

sounds good to me, although dont put overtone rings on your toms

Yeah I probably wont, just depends what pack I get, if they only have a pack that is like 14, 12, 13, and 16 or somthing, I'll put them on the toms just to see what it sounds like, but no, I don't plan on them staying nor do I plan on buying more then a 14" ring unless I absolutly have to, but hopefully this wont be to expensive as I only have $40 and yah know, heads arn't the cheapest, actually nothing about drums are cheap.... I mean seriously, then you get into a band, like lets say system of a down, johns set is probably atleast $5000 I'd say probably more on the $10000 side, and he probably gets paid the least amount which dosn't make sense to me but still.

No kidding.
Don't get overtone rings, the ringing is GOOD!
Change the resos too -- they are just as important as the batters. The most popular resos are
Snareside Ambassador on the snare
Clear Ambassador on the toms.

It's the same thing, but I assumed he was a Remo user. Why would he get Evans resos and Remo everything else?

cant be brand whore that way, although saying that makes me a hipocrit, cuz im a zildjian and evans whore, so...
plus hes also looking into buying g2s, and an eq3, and clear g1s as resos afterwards, so im wondering where you got the idea he was a remo user, besides the fact he currently has pinstripes

You don't make sense.

yes i do, you just dont want to admit it
you assumed he was a remo user, i said he was looking into coated g2s as a batter head, and eq3 for the bass, and clear g1s later as resos, so i was wondering where you got the idea he was only a remo user

Okay, look so ****ing sorry that I was typing fast and if you can't over look me saying overtunes, the **** off. As for the "ringing" being good, I know this, but it isn't good when the ****ing ringing is comming from my kit. And I don't know maybe I'll get clear ambs instead of the evans, because I don't mind pinstripes but everyone here is like "OHHHHHHHH GOTTA HAVE G2's" so I wanted to see what all the hype was. But yeah, these forums piss me off sometimes it seems like some people are always looking for a fight becuase I said overtune, big ****ing deal when people talk and it sounds like overtune, and I'm used to saying overtune it's hard to say overtone when I'm typing at around 100 words a minute.. It's hard to catch mistakes and sorry I don't have the time to check for errors, I have some what of a life and need to do other stuff besides cater to you.

Sorry but I need to vent right now.
Since when are EQ3's remo? That would be Powerstroke3 friend, EQ's are Evan.. I have an Amb for my snare because 1) it sounds good, and 2) I don't want to have G2's on everything, I want to toss it up a little bit. Hopefully I'll love these Evans too because I'm going to go broke after getting them and I need a job really really really bad. You have no idea how bad I need a job and once I get a job, it'll be nice because I'll get all the stuff I want for my drums. Anyway yeah sorry for flaming you but you are dumb and it pissed me off, I make my post all pretty and easy to read, and you still can't read it.

Never said you were wrong, thank you for clearing it up while I wasn't there.
I just figured if the TS said somthing, he'd get the point that I'm not a Remo user and stuff.

Just whatever you do, don't get those rings for overtones. Overtones are your friend and so is the tuning bible. Once you get the heads in tune with themselves and with each other you shouldn't have a problem with bad overtones.

I didn't buy them, I'm going to buy them from guitar center I don't feel like giving those people more of my money and I don't need them yet anyway, once I get good enough to point of recording, I will.

You editted your post. Smooth move.
I will admit my post didn't make sense either. I didn't read his original post thoroughly and I thought he used Remo.

When you learn how to tune, and start playing with a band you'll realise you need those overtones to be heard.

and how the hell do you make the spelling mistakes 3 times in this thread and in 2 or 3 other threads.
Teach yourself to type, keep typing it slowly until your get it right i mean o and u are not quite next to each other it can't be that hard and if you do you'll avoid a load of hassle in your next thread.
