Using a Surround Sound System as a Vox Amp

Is this possible? Will it damage my TV/Surround sound box? What do I need to do this? I will probably be using and SM58 running through an XLR cable with the 1/4" jack

yeah, I've often wondered the same thing.. except through a mixer, and out the RCA jacks.

Hmmm i wouldnt advise it in a band situation, but if it was just for singing along with cd's i dont see why not.

Its possible. And Inorder for my band to hear it. I turned it up. And it blew the speakers. Don't do it.
