Harmonies

Hey, I have a question hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction; I'm fairly new to these forums, I think I signed up once to post a message and then never again.



You write a riff and then you want to put a harmony to it, how do you go about working it out?

You've got to figure out what kind of harmony you want. Third? Minor third? Diatonic third (following the key)? Fifth? Then just find whichever interval you choose and play them with your melody note on top. I hope that helps.

If you have no idea what the last guy said check the music theory thread. Basically you need to find out what these terms are. Key, Chord & Intervals.
