Is there a stretching excersise similar to MR wrist for your ankles? Within weeks of using the mr wrist I feel I have tons more control and power, I can only imagine my playing in a year or so. Thanks for any comments in advance.

I asked this question a few weeks ago and the answer I got back was "no". Google soccer stretches for the ankles.

Play heel down, and do calf raises.

You can also do the opposite of calf raises where it works the front of your shin. I can't remember what the muscle is called. But when you put weight on your heel instead of the ball of your foot, and let your toes drop as far as they can go, then raise them. This is an excersize that may help. Keep the reps high if you want to simulate your bass pedal tho.

There's really no need for mr. wrist type thing on the feet. Your ankles and legs are so strong as it is already from normal use it doesn't matter.

Once you internalize the reality that's it's pure technique, not strength on the feet, things will progress faster.

How to play the kick drum - Relax your whole leg, grab your knee, lift it straight up over the pedal, drop it. Boom. Repeat.

Go through the first couple of pages of Stick Control with your feet.

if you play single bass, find some stuff that's double bass and just keep practicing it slow until you can play it up to speed with one pedal...obviously some stuff is impossible for 1 bass pedal, but i know some slower double bass pedal stuff that i can play with one pedal

listen to some older Danzig, i think there's some double bass pedal in some of that stuff unless he's just smooth with one pedal and really fast...newer Danzig definately has double bass in it

listen to You Can Run, But We'll Find You by Matchbook Romance, even if you don't like them...it's got a really cool beat in the beginning and near the end he uses double bass but i can play it on single.

there's some stuff from local bands around here but you won't be able to find them on the internet anywhere so you can't hear it unless you have the cd...

^I'm not so sure about Matchbook Romance, I'd suggest the entire Painkiller album by Judas Priest, its all slow tempo stuff, with some faster tempo stuff (not excessive though), later Sepultura (think Roots, Bloody Roots, that was the first song I learned on double bass, haha), early Metallica.

the Matchbook Romance song i named just helps a little with coordination...and personally i think it's a fun song to jam to if you can play it, but it takes some work on the bass pedal

Can I have some linkage to mr wrist please, sorry but I want to try this out and couldn't find a thread with a link to it.

But basically for bass drumming, try running, I mean thats basically what you do with bass, you are essentially running in place.

I'm really excited and happy to see so many people using quality excerises like Mr. Wrist. Not a single person I have shown that too hasn't found vast improvement from it.
