hm...he has amazing beats kept on perfect time. Outstanding creativity, with many different styles under his belt and has technical drumming abilities that are very audible in his playing. His sound is extremely recognizable, and know what to play, when to play it. You don't have to hear it from me, just because he was in blink 182 doesnt mean he cant drum.

Yes, yes a disgrace... that makes perfect sense. A guy that grew up and did what he loved, just like you're doing, is a huge disgrace. There's always the people that may not be as skilled, or talented, or have the proper "playing style" (which by the way I was under the impression that style is something to be made your own) that will always somehow come out on top over you and the sooner everyone realizes that the sooner they can step back and stop bitching. Sure he's not the best, but SAY IT don't FLAME IT.

This argument makes me sick to my stomach. Step back and look at the man. He is a drummer. Like you and like me. If he was on this board he would be embraced by the community and most people here would like any audio he posted. So in short, everyone needs to grow up.

On another lively note I just watched the episode. It is a good episode for CSI fans. Barker actually plays a rapper in the show and it's funny to see. I think he says 4 or 5 words. His wife does all the talking. It's worth checking out if you like the show; no drumming or band whoring at all.

I think what you have to realise here is that he's playing in a big stadium, to a bunch of screaming 15 year old girls. The crowd arn't really gonna give a **** if he plays some polyrhythms or a jazz solo. They just want to hear fast and loud, and he gives them that. He's playing for the crowd - an entertainer.

ok i have to much to say about that post to say all of it. but for 1, 2, if not all of those videos, are from the same tour, and thats how they opened for their first song, thats why its the same, its the same solo HE made. you just happened to grab videos of 1 tour. another. many of your reasons didnt even involve drumming. And not having groove, do all solos have to have a groove? no. if you knew your stuff, youd know that not all drum solos have to have a linear groove. I think the reason that people are so bitter towards Barker is that he brought modern drumming to the mainstream... What this means for Barker is that every drummer hates that everyone knows Barker and not the some the BEST drummers. Well I can take that one of two ways.

You are saying that his kit is set up to the point where he has to get off of his throne to play a fill, making his...movements completely justified.

Or you are saying that his set is perfectly fine and that He prefers to stand up and sit back down while playing fills.

Anyway, I don't understand it.

But this just seems rediculous...I don't see how him bouncing around back there is going to make him play 1) Any faster 2) Any better.

Look: there's not a person on here who thinks he is the BEST drummer. People respect him for many reasons (his drumming, his tattoos, his clothing company, his band, etc.) and people HATE him for many reasons (his drumming, his tattoos, his clothing company, his band, etc.).
