hey, im interested in getting started with a little bit of drumming. i play guitar and bass but im interested in pounding the hell outta some drums. i dont need anything spectacular, but something thats not a total p.o.s. and sounds decent. i saw this on ebay and it looks good to me, but i dont know too much about drums. what do you guys think of this?

If you're interested in "pounding the hell outta some drums", than go get some trash can lids... Drums are for playing, not beating...
Anyways, the deal doesn't seem too great, about average price for that type of kit, in my opinion. Maybe some kind of Ludwig Accent or a Sonor Force 505...
Something along those lines.

If i were in your position i'd go for a yamaha.
Drum prices, like most things, work along the lines of 'you get what you pay for' (to a certain degree) :)
