Very different basses.

I'd go Ric, all the way. But that's me.

Obvious question, have you tried all three?

well it depends on ur playing style but id say its between the richenbacher and the warwick

if ur gonna play metal, or any low frequency stuff get the warwick they have incredible lows

but the richenbacker is good for indie, the bravery's bassist uses one same with franz ferdidand, it has a good mid to higher range

i personally love the look of the richenbacher
and warwicks are very very very heavy

id say go for the richenbacher but, it also depends on ur playingstyle
go to ur local guitar center and try out the warwick, im not sure if they sell richenbacher basses at guitarcenter, if u have any local music shop u might want to try that

The Ric's neck is COMPLETELY different to anything out there. Closest thing I've played to it's neck is a LTD C-10.

It's a 33" scale if I am not mistaken

Radiobass81

It's 33 1/4, but that's not the unique part (as it's hardly noticeable).

The string-spacing is very small, although the neck itself is very thick (from where your thumb goes to where your fretting fingers go). Opposite of most basses nowadays.

I would probably go with the Warwick but that is me, try them all they are all very different basses both in sound and feel.

The Warwick growl wouldn't fit straight-up jazz, methinks.

If not having the 21st-24th frets doesn't bother you, go for the Ric. I'd have a Ric as my second bass because of the glorious tone, but can't do without that 21st fret.

With the right touch, though, you can get a jazz sound from a Corvette.

Listen to me play Jaco's Blackbird on the clean demo, and PoT, Love Thing (Stu), and some other stuff on the bass solo.

the corvette i suppose.

i'll probably never, ever get a ric

Good reasoning...

And yeah, you can get a Corvette sound just like a jazz, but if you want to do that, just buy a jazz, I'd say...

Growl is good for jazz, it makes the bass sound more like an upright and uprights growl like nothing else with the right eq.

I have a corvette 4 string and all it takes is some minor adjustments on the bass and amp to change tones. I can go from growly to a punkier tone to jazz easilly, very nice.

I do like the C-5 but I am biased since I have a Warwick.

SüP = Warwick whore

I like the C-5, and it has the only Schecter neck I find passable, but I found it had too much lows sometime.

Schecter.

Ric & Warwick necks are too thick for me.

i would recomend a higher model schecter like the stilleto elite/studio/exotic. with those you'd be saving some money, and have an instrument of equal quality compared to your other choices. but to be honest, you should play all the basses you are considering and base your decision off of that. our opinions are meaningless unless you like the same things.

Simon: Frankly the Ric is just ghastly. And the Schecter is not my kind of bass. Warwick, you performance was great tonight and I think you could be our next idol.

Paula: For once I actually agree with SImon. Warick you did great tonight. Your lows just sang out and that growl in your voice- AH it just makes me wet.

Randy: Warwick! Dog, you da man dog.

PS- I own a Warwick. Very versatile, tho I reccomend you get one from before 98. The neck is way smaller.

I think the C5 is your best choice out those basses because you play different styles of music and the C5 is a verstaile bass.

I actually played a C5 breifly. It had a good bottom-end and nice highs. The eq allowed big adjustments on the tone.

I think the ric is versatile too, but it always sounds like a ric which may not suit jazz settings. The same goes for the Warwick,IMO

I actually prefer the C series to the Stiletto...
