So I've been recording with this guy for awhile now... and im unsatisfied with the records, for a one reason.

it seems like i have no volume control, ive heard myself when ive played live, from live recordings and everything sounds okay, but when we record in the studio, and im laying down a bassline, theres always moments where i get louder, and if i repear that bassline, its always the same parts.

Ive been telling you guys im ina Jazz Blues, Rock Trio, well this guy is the guitarist, our drummer wasnt around so he didnt record, but ou Jazz Concert is April 28th, and our instructor wants us to play this. So I'll have a Good Recording of it after that :)

EDIT: forgot the link

I'll upload the other song where my levels are blah in a moment. but listen to this... and remember it was done ina rush, and we had an agreement if we ****ed up we;d keep going.

I don't know but that song sounds really good, and it would sound better with Piano and drums. The bass solo owns too.

im actually listening to it right now for the second time ... that is a well played and solid song the solo was suddle and smooth i loved it , as for drums and so be carful adding them in cuz if u dont have them right it could ruin that whole feel i got out of it.

What program did you use to record?

I think if you ran the bass part through the Aducity program you could use the compressor to make your part sound more even.

i second the compressor.

awesome... my friend has a studio in his bassment so we record there alot, as its free.. he has a 12 track digital mixer, and he imported everything to Cool Edit.

i should ahve known to use compression, we have to use it when john plays guitar, or it kinda clips and distorts... ikes.. he plays so hard so it makese sense.

And as for this song... the drummers played this once, and it actually sounded really good, he does this crash thing that sounds really sick, so its getting thjere

Im glad u guys liked it, this isnt my best work by far, so i was a bit nervous about posting it, as you guys havent ever heard me play. And this is just my fender, the ampeg was at my house so i could use it, and the EQ is flat. btw.

Solo was a bit sloppy, but I know it probably flows much better live and stuff.

I can barely hear the bass on the verse, or maybe I'm missing something... Is the bass the chords, or whatever?

EDIT: I can sort of hear it now, I think. Nevermind :).

It's the tone; I wouldn't have easily guessed it was a bass.

Shes not a nice fender at alll Its a Mexi Fender J V tune E-A-D-G-C, everyone says i got lucky... i disagree, within the first month, we realize my neck didnt have a ****ing Trussrod... so i had to send the neck back, the new one came in like 2 days, so i was lucky.

ill never sell this bass, it has a monster tone, and its a shame i was soloing my neck pup on this recording, because i need a litlte more low end, to seperate myself from the guitar when i was playing chords, i usually solo my Bridge, toggle the Tone, and ive got this monster tone that i just love. I just wish it was a 6 string. But im getting Bartolini's Put in this week hopefully so BOOYA...

I Also play the chords so that every finger is playing a note, it allows me to accent certin notes if i want, plus its good practice for slaping and popping. Its really the same motion... Thumb, and 1 finger, thumb and 2, or thumb and 3. When we play this live i actually slap and popp the chords for the intro, but i suck at it so... we'll prob do something else.

I play with D'addario Prosteels 6 string packs, with the High C, thats really the thing that really put my tone in the place i desired.
