What would you be willing to trade or pay for a (my) Thumb 4 NT.....i dotn have pictures but assume there are no major nicks..i wax it once every 1-2 weeks depending on my time, and there are only little scratches that can only be seen when you put the bass at eye level and the light is right. Year is 2001...i put elixer strings on it but i guess that doesnt make much of a difference. this is NOT for sale or trade i 'm just trying to get a feel for what its worth in case i wanted to sell it in the future for a bass i really want (like a streamer stage II)...again, just wondering

So why are you asking?

Really, you have an idea of what you want for it, so aim toward it.

I think basscentral.com has a few used ones...you could see what they're going for there.

You really can't go by list price. Nobody pays list for an instrument. If anyone ever does, then they're a fool.

The only thing you can go by is street price.

Seriously, the average price on those used would be from $1150 to $1350 in excellent condition.

Bluebook says $2,150 for a '04-'05 model. I'd say you're looking at around $1,350-$1,500 if someone's desperate.

I saw that also, but that's for one in mint condition. Unfortunately, 90% of musical instruments aren't in mint condition.

In order for an instrument to be in mint condition, it has to be in the exact condition it was in when it arrived at the music store, and it has to have everything that came with it from the factory.

Yeah, I think I quoted the 98% though. Either way, most instruments of that age are 90% at most. Just trying to help out though. :p

True to a point. It all depends on what it is though. Rickenbackers, and certain others, command a higher than usual price. Warwicks, on the other hand, usually go for a bit lower than book for some reason.

Assigning a book value to guitars and basses is a very difficult thing. It all depends on market. What is and isn't popular.

Good to see that the book is being helpful though.

Jorge's think alike.

Your name is Jorge?

We should make a club.

Also, seriously, Warwick prices usually drop a lot, when it comes down to Corvettes, Thumbs, and cheap Streamers. Plenty of users here find 6-string Corvettes for a mere $600, around $200-300 cheaper than the 4-string Corvette in good stores. The year doesn't help either, as most people looking for used Warwicks want pre-'97.

However, I didn't realize the Thumb you mentioned was neck-thru. Add a hundred or two, maybe...

You probably should have taken them up on it. If you sell it outright, you'd be lucky to see that much.

well i brought it in just because i was curious..i ended up selling my Ibanez RDGR 300 that i bought for 175 used for 120...which i figured was a nice deal...i love my warwick and i dont think i'd ever sell it unless it was to get the SSII

1800!?!?!?

You are bull****ting me. I also just noticed it's a neck-thru (As I said, Jorge'd DO think alike =P). You can get, minimum, 1200 bucks for it. But 1800 as a minimum? Never.

JBass

Mr. Jiggy: i'm not too great on a fretlessa nd i dont really need one for my pruposes

Tryxx: I wasnt intending to sell it there i just wanted to see about what its worth but the thing they had going on was some ridiculous deal where they give you real good money for your equipment...so i wasnt expecting to get 2400 ever but ive seent hese things go on ebay for about 1500 so im thinking if i sell it to someone i can jack it up a bit....i wasnt thinking it of selling it on the internet if i was going to anyway so it really doesnt affect you guys much...i was just curious to see what people who know alot about basses would pay for one

$1,800 is too much, I still say.
