View Full Version : Help! (Need some guidance)
So I pretty much have a stable job now, and I'm planning on getting a couple of basses. All I need is some honest opinions and a few suggestions. I am most likely getting a stingray4(black cherry = yummy), a ric 4003 (fireglo!), and an American J-Bass (sunburst). The thing I need help on is which order should I get them?
I already have a wick corvette5 and I'm ordering a GK 700RB/Neo 212 next week. So I'm good in the mean time.
****! Where should I sart??

I'd say start with the Stingray, because you already have a Jazz-ish bass and a Ric is more of an acquired taste.

I don't particularly think the Jazz is even necessary... but even if you insist upon it. You can get a nice jazz bass from a luither for a similar price point or you could buy a MIM/MIJ and fix it up and still be under the MIA price.

I'd get the Ric first, for the limited edition vintage fireglo they're doing this year.
Brad, you bring up a good point.
Fck, I dunno. I want to get just for fck's sake, you know? Get it just to have it.

Didn't even think about that.
That would probably conquer the 'Ray and Jazz G.A.S. with one blow.

looks are a cosmetic problem. your tone is whats important, not the look of the bass.
isnt that why you baught a warwick. not because of the looks

I bought the wick cuz I needed to upgrade. It sounds just orgasmic, believe me. A lot of people will talk shet about the MEC's. But **** man, the tone comin outta them is exactly what I thought it would be. BUT, I also kept in mind that I'd like to look good too. The way the bubinga shines a subtle red after polishing it. Or the way the chrome hardware sparkles under the flashing lights....
The point is, the three basses I listed in my first post were all thoroughly thought over. I considered tone, reliability, durability, longevity, and of course: good looks before deciding on it. Its a cosmetic issue, no doubt, but its certainly not a problem, as you have stated.

it's pretty much 50/50 for me. i'm not going to play an ugly bass, no matter how good it sounds, and vice versa.
