hey i know a lot of budget bass amps are advertised as keyboard and bass amp, and i figure if it can be used for a guitar, a bass amp can be used for a keyboard too right? thanks

edit: its pretty sweet why i need to know this. My dad plays piano and so does my whole family, so we are prob gonna get a nice keyboard soon. so what im gonna do is like i have 300 dollars and hopefully ill be able to get him to either pay for some of it or pay more to get a nicer one and say its for the keyboard too

cheap? yeah

get a nice bass amp. that's what i use for my moog. i just run it through my bass rig, and before i used it thru my ampeg combo. Keyboards sound great through bass amps, compared to guitar amps which might blow (depending on the freq. response of the guitar amp). also, amps that are only meant for keyboards, generally have lower wattages and a higher price. for the same price you could get a really nice and powerful bass setup, rather than a mediocre keyboard amp with less power behind it.

k well firstly the bass amp/speaker should handle the frequency range fine... only thing you might lose is the high frequencies if theres not a tweeter - so ideally a 12" speaker with tweeter would be perfect for most keyboards. the second thing you need to look for is something with a pretty flat response - otherwise you'll have the classic problem of a few notes being really really harsh compared to the rest....

If it was me, id do it the otherway round - use a keyboard amp as a bass amp. That way the amp shouldnt colour the sound too much - and any tone/eq-ing you want done to the bass can be done with a preamp. Forget about power, etc - you main problem with keyboard amplification is frequency response and minimal colouration of the sound. I can reccomend Rolands keyboard amps (played through a few), alternatively Hartke's XL series cabs sound really nice with a keyboard - iv only played through a 15" and 2x8" stack once but i thought it sounded great. I think they use their speakers for a keyboard amp aswel now

ill be sure to look for this and mention it, becuase i have an external equalizer i could use to turn a flat sounding amp into a nice one

the km200?

nice amp if it is - plus decent speaker in it should sound pretty good with bass. been looking at getting one - problem is my live set up is a bit complex so been using a PA system - looking for an all in one PA basically.

Anyways i probably woulda gone with something like that - got the keyboard end covered and unless your a die hard bassist should sound fine with bass... you got a preamp/eq on the bass at all? How does it sound with a keyboard? What keyboard/rig you playing with at the moment?

just wondering cause need a few reviews of things - dont feel you have to answer
