well i have the seperate units(the vx410 cab, and the HA3500 head). I would strongly advise you buy the units separately like i did. The head is great and hte cab is great, but if you want to switch one out, you'll need a new cab and head completely. I plan on keeping the head for a long time, but i hope to swap out the cab for something else with a better tone than the vx410. If you buy the whole giant combo, that is not an option for you. Plus, it'll be really damn heavy and inconvenient to carry around. It only costs more to buy them separately and i think it is a better deal that way because if you want to switch the cab or the head, you actually have that option.

That being said, i enjoy the tone i get out of the 3500 head. It's pretty versatile for different styles of music and you can get a whole spectrum of sounds out of the 10 band EQ. The cab on the other hand seems to be lacking something, but i can't quite put my finger on it, maybe it's not as responsive as i'd like or something. Something just sounds missing, it's really a no frills cab, and while that may be right for you, you should check out some of hartke's other cabs, and even some other brands. I for one like the TP series of hartke cabs(aluminum speakers) becasue of the punch and clarity they deliver as well as a nice fat low end.

The VX3500 is a pretty good combo for the money but as someone said I would buy the head and cab seperately.

I've also got the separate head and cab and I don't like them. The head is just way to harsh sounding for me and doesn't cut through if I try to make the sound better. The cab is not so good on the lower notes. Sounds "boomy".

What? Have you tried turning on the EQ? It cuts thru like a mofo, and is only way too harsh if you boost all highs

I recommend it, I have the separate head and cab and love it, I want to start Bi-amping my rig with the VX 1x15 combo too

I find the cab to lack a lot of response and clarity that i'd like to but i effin' love the 3500 head.

Yes I've tried everything. I can get it cut through but it still sounds like crap to my ears. I've got a Geddy Lee Jazz. Maybe I should try changing pickups or something.

I love the combo.

I wouldn't bother buying a stack...
