if you have an active bass id say go with active EMG's if you have a passive bass id say go with passive EMG's. its kinda hard to turn a Passive bass to Active. and as for as brands. all i have used are EMG's and ive een happy with them, but i dont have much to compare to.

Hard? If all you want is the active pickups, the EMG P set is extremely easy to install.

You have to have a place for a battery as well. It can get complicated.

Basslines 1/4 pounders are suppose to be great.

$18 a piece, while they last.
It's a deal too good to pass up, I have a 10k and an 8.7k. So far I am very happy. :D
