Built inside this fortress,
I lie safe from you bombardment.
Of incessant excuses and accusations.
Battle worn troops scatter the countryside.
They'll die here,
Knowing that you could have saved them.
Surrounded by a trench
Of soft spoken reiterations of, "I'm fine."
Deny the symptoms.
Hold the line, keep them pinned down.
Built inside this fortress
I lay hollow as empty shells littering the ground.
Cease fire
A white flag ascends the cratered hillside.
They're at the gate, seeking negotiation.
The troop is split,
Open the door or dismiss them.
Open fire and watch them perish.
Talks of hope and repiration
One by one the defense gives in.

teeming with outsiders.
Peace at last, on freedoms wing's we are lifted.
