Lacuna Coil

As most of you know, Lacuna Coil came out with a new album today entitled Karmacode. I am halfway through with listening to it now, and I have to say it's quite a good cd. It hasn't changed much from their last release, it's a bit heavier at least in my opinion, with the guitars.

Anyway, what is everyones opinion on this fronted females band or their newly released cd?

I was never a big fan, but over the past few months, I have found myself enjoying their music more and more. I plan on getting this cd some time soon.

What can I say, The only songs Ive heard from them is Heavens A Lie, Fallen and Our Truth.
They're pretty good.

I've been listening to Karmacode since it was leaked.

It has several tracks that are excellent. The first three. Once you get past those, it's awful.

The guitars and bass are lackluster and dominate the music. Christina's voice takes a back seat and the guy sings more than her.
The vocals harmonies are missing.

It's nothing like Comalies, which wasn't great. The great vocals saved it.

I didn't know it came out today...I thought it was out for awhile. Must be the leaked one the that the guy is talking about. I liked Comalies, Swamped is a sweet song. I am probably going to get this one soon.

The girls that scream can sound too whiny. Like Kittie, Flyleaf. But Angela from Arch Enemy has got the worst voice ever, I wonder how she would sound if she'd sing for real.

Cristina sounds much better then them IMO. Way hotter too :D

1. You my friend, are either on crack, or have never heard Arch Enemy.
2. You can't compare Scabbia's vocals to thiers realistically.....they are two completely different styles. Angela and Christina are both excellent at thier respective style.

Anyway, i love Lacuna Coil; haven't checked out the new cd yet but I will here soon.

I don't know about more male vocals though; thier male singer is quite terrible.

Swamped I can't stand. Rather poor, really.

Good band though. What they lack in technical ability, they make up for in catchiness. I find them a good band when you don't really want to listen to something crazy technical, just kick back with some good music that you don't need to concentrate on much. In a good way, mind you.

I thought Karmacode was...different. It's best and worst point of it is the simplicity. It's irresistably catchy, but they turned into a nu-metal group, which, while not a bad thing, makes them a bit more generic sounding than what we're originally accustomed to.

That being said, the vocals are at their peak here (hooray for layering), the synth loops now actually use synths instead of just instruments the rest of the band doesn't play, and there's tons of ethnic-y sounding riffs, which is always a plus in my book.

You're the only one I've heard speak highly of the vocals on this album and I've talked to plenty of people about it.

I'll be the first to admit Cristina is generic to the max, and is by far not one of the best female vocalists out there. What she has is a catchy voice that's fun to listen to. Just like this band. They're catchy...they aren't going to win any awards for best songwriting ability, or most technicality. They're catchy, and they do what they do well.

She has an extremely beautiful voice, too bad she doesn't have a more skilled band around her.
Don't get the wrong idea, I love LC. I'm just not blinded by my fanboyism towards them.

Rob Zombie, ehh. I've always been very mixed about him.
Musically it never grabbed me nor lyrically. His whole "shockrock" thing seems rather childish too me. Meh. Maybe I'm just to serious. :p
He does have a few catchy tunes though, I give him that. He's also a very smart and nice guy.

I thought the new album wasn't as good as the previous one. The vocals are one of the better things on it. The layering is still as great as ever but I don't like the new guitar sound they use (though Comalies sound was much better).

White Zombie easily beats Rob's stuff. That's a given. As far as Rob's stuff being unoriginal, yeah I'll definately agree, but that doesn't mean it's not some pretty enjoyable music to listen to.
