Well, I finally got the last part of my rig today!

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/ChrisKemp/tracecab1.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/ChrisKemp/tracecab2.jpg

Cost me £250, it's an old Pre Gibson 1993 model. No P=P since the seller only lived 5 minutes away from me!

Coupled with this...

And this...

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/ChrisKemp/kubicki0181.jpg

and I'm in heaven.

So, thats it, a Trace Elliot rig for only £350 in all!

Now I just need to make room to get it into my bedroom and get it set up!

He let me play his Kubicki through it, dear lord it was amazing.

And I tested it's low B capability with his Yamaha TRB. Pretty fierce, and it's as bright and as clear as day.

That's some serious tonality right there. Congrats. *hops on a train to Newcastle to hunt Chris down* :D

I swear, when he first fired it up (he has a Trace Elliot head too) it was like Mark King was there in the house!

Congrats man! I hope it serves you well :thumb:

Wow, Chris, that is REAL nice. Like talkbass nice.

Nah, talkbass nice is more of "look at my cheap crappy back up rig that i bought in case my Eden and Ampeg rigs both fail me on the night. And the Kubicki is there because its small, and can fit in with the 9 string Conklin and the 6 string F-bass. But only because of that, if i could buy another SUV i would, so i could fit all my vintage basses and equipment, but moneys a little tight at the moment, so i had to settle with a Caddillac"

That Kubicki is still the worst looking POS I have ever seen, even for a Kubicki.

However the Trrace Elliot is so damned beautiful it more than makes up for it. A rehearsal studio we used to use had trace elliots and amazing.
Well done man ::thumb::

Recently i was blessed again with the chance to play through a trace at GC a couple weeks back.. to say the least i cried. The most amazing tone ever...

Nice, I am in the hunting for some deals on a rig. You can give me your old one and I'll pay for shipping.

I will, as soon as I can get everything together in my room! It's agony not being able to play it!

I'm gonna have to sell my Ibanez BTB, My vintage fretless and my Ashdown Electric Blue combo to make room for it!

Looks like a good rig and I bet it sounds killer (especially for the price) but the Trace cabs are as ugly as sin.

I'm with Adam. They cabs look ugly as hell, but it's the sound that matters, and I bet it soudns great.

I actually dig the look, Green and Black is a very sexy combo!

disagreed. Although i'm not a fan of the head.

kubicki > trace

does a rig get much better?

I lovelove trace elliot, get some sounds up!

Chris K

As soon as I get it all together I'll try and get some recordings done. It's so bright and clear, and really lets the bass speak. Plus, contrary to most Mark King recordings when he was using Trace, you can dial in some low end!

(Clocks go Forward is a good example of this).

I really want a Trace Cab and V8 Head to compliment my Hartke

Pretty sweet, but I'm really not a fan of the Kubikis looks

Chris K

I nearly ended up going for some Hartke 4X10's, wouldn't have been a bad road but I'm glad this luck came my way.

Yeah, I love the colour scheme on the Traces, but I'm pretty happy with my VX410

Really want a Sansamp and V8 tho :(

wow, that's freakin sweet man... one of my friends in a band around here has a Trace Elliot 2x15... did have a trace head, but i think it got caught up in a fire in his old house :-\.... now he's got an Ampeg SVT.. but, yeah.. anyways... Awesome find man!

First of all, great score for an amazing price, I would love to hear something as well.

For all of pining for a V8 let me just restate how amazing that head is. It's wonderful overdriven but has enough headroom to be played clean. I'd love to try it out with a TE cab, though I'm really after something more lighweight, like Tech Soundsystems, the V8 already weighs more than enough.

I actually don't feel all that poor considering what I've just bought, I'd hate to know how much I've saved buying my gear used (Kubicki included).

Yep, the whole thing happened so fast...I was especially amazed to find that in the whole of England, my dream cabs were being sold for a silly price on 5minutes away from me!

And Lowsound, yes, I did mean love, thats what I get for typing without thinking
