Hey guys.
I'm back with a brand spanking new song. No vocals as yet, but, do yourself a favor and download this puppy, and listen to it with headphones on. If you're a stoner you're gonna love this...
Go here (http://www.soundclick.com/makeshiftmanner) and download "Mind Like a Bomb".
There's a lot of calculated ambiant sound in there that I've designed to sound particually nice if you're either a stoner or chilling out. It's an artistic experiment my drummer and myself have put together trying to fuse elements of metal, roots, easten music and progressive rock, and I like to think we accomplished this with much success... but you're proably going to slap me...

You have a lot of cool ideas, but you need to corral them and get an arrangment with vocals, cut the length down, then post back here.
good playing
good recording
need to work on your mixing
cool cymbal panning ..BTW
Acoustic was too loud
electric/lead was to soft
kick & snare need to come up just a bit
It sounds like you had fun and you're real proud of your work, but until you cut it down to size and slap some vocals on it...no one here is gonna really appreciate it. ('cept me maybe)

Kool, thanks man. The only thing people really have been complaining about is the mixing and the length, the first of which can be fixed (we're massive Floyd and Zappa fans at MSM, so a long song is a good song for us ).
When we play it in rehursal, the addition of vocals does (according to a few devoted fans/critics) make the song feel shorter, so hopefully once we get our hands on a decent microphone and record the vocals, the main, acoustic type, part and the part after the heavy acoustic solo won't feel as drawn out (really hopefully, Matt and I are proud that we've written a 10 minute long song).
I hope to god that we can get into a recording studio sometime this year so that all our music can be recorded and mixed professionally.

Gud stuff!
Pointers...
-try using an acoustic guitar for an acoustic guitar coz it cannot be replaced.
-Some Timing problems here n there
-Drum mix aint the best-lower on the hats...lil higher on the snare n kik
-The cymbals are slightly flanged...wats up dude?
-it drags a wee bit towards the middle.

Errm, that is a real acoustic... It's a Greg Bennet, just using the pickup in there.

U cld probably Drop the pickup, its got way too much mid for a strumming pattern, try using a microphone.

At first, I thought it was going to be a cover of Ruby, by Tweaker.
It's not really my style, but I agree with the deal about the length of it. The hard right panning is a little distracting. The solo-ish stuff in the guitar is pretty tasty, though and works well if it wasn't yelling at one ear.
Once you finally get into it, I'm not a big fan of the cord progression, as it's been done a million times, but the execution is okay.
The acoustic sounds fine. No problems with that at all. It is pretty strong in the mid, but that could be flushed out with a little mixing. It's not bad at all.
They cymbals are a little loud in the mix for me, especially when contrasted by the instrumentation. It would be great for a louder metal sound, but the way it is, I'm not feeling it.
Oh, here's the metal. And the cymbals are working, though I don't like the panning.
A few new chords would be nice, but it's respectable for what it is. Trim it down in length and add some vocals, that would help it become less boring. I'd say start with the vocals and trim it afterward. It's a good start.
