That was one of the oddest things I've ever heard. It was pretty cool I guess.

They remind me of the fall of troy, and I know that you really don't like them.

Very unique. Even if you don't like the way it sounds, you have to give it that.

Oh, the A Billion Ernies I listened to like a year back was like bad ska with screamed vocals over it. Have they lost the ska thing?
Matt?

all i heard was lots of dissonant chords and brass instruments

Lol fair enough. The instrumentation on certain parts of it did remind me of fall of troy-esque post hardcore. I think they're good but I really can't tell what way things will go on this forum sometimes.

i liked hermit crab
the rest was pretty meh, especially the first song

There was not a shred of post-hardcore in that sound.

I'm not even going to attempt to listen to this band.

What about the sounds that The blood brothers, Fall of troy and Glassjaw incorporate in their music. I though post-hardcore was new take on hardcore, and I heard this style of sound (the whole spazzy but melodic take on post hardcore) in their music.
Matt?

did anyone notice that extremely out of key chord in the beginning of the first song
bothersome

A scene band who have emo influences.

The Blood Brothers are just a horrible band. Except for their first album, that's really good.

A scene band isn't a genre.
Matt?
04-03-2006, 03:31 PM
i think they are more indie and pop punk influenced
penguinofdoom: 123
i'd call them an indie band
Special Brew

Blood Bros are good. :/
Matt?

I know it isn't a genre but the term scene implies a sound. They are a lot like Fear Before The March of Flames in that the band has some cool influences which you can hear sometimes but otherwise its just more poppy stuff.

It annoys me. Some people here will criticise one band, and big up another one who are not really all that musically different. Due to the regulars opinoins, level of popularity or acceptance within the mainstream.

04-03-2006, 03:38 PM
First off Blood Brothers sound nothing like this band and second I hate the Blood Brothers.
Special Brew
04-03-2006, 03:41 PM
No, it's just that most of these kids learned and developed a good majority of their musical preferences here, and learned a lot of what they know about emo/hardcore from the regulars, so most people here have very similar tastes about things.
PenguinOfDoom
04-03-2006, 03:41 PM
I know they don't but what i'm saying is that kind of post-hardcore sound is incorperated in certain parts of their music. Now i am confused though, what part of the blood brothers sounds warrants them as an indie band. I could understand the fact they were an different take on hardcore, but as you guys say this is false could you please elaborate on why they are indie.
Matt?
04-03-2006, 03:43 PM
the blood brothers are much more involved with the indie scene then the hardcore scene or emo scene.
there influences are more from indie noise bands then hardcore bands
i hear more arab on radar than fugazi or something
Special Brew
04-03-2006, 03:45 PM
Because they have an indie sound. There are no bands out there quite like TBB. They aren't post-hardcore, they are indie with emo influence.
This band and TBB are nothing alike, I don't know why anyone brought up TBB or Fear Before.
This band you posted isn't hardcore, they're mostly ska, but I can't really tell you what else they are. I don't hear any hardcore though.
PenguinOfDoom
04-03-2006, 03:47 PM
But I hear emo influences in their music and that is a sub-genre of hardcore. The more melodic portrayl of this I thought counted as a different take on hardcore. (tbb)

04-03-2006, 03:48 PM
Can you not hear that kind of fall of troy, blood brothers, or glassjaw kind of thing going on at all?
Special Brew
04-03-2006, 03:48 PM
Where are you getting emo influences? I listened to every song they have posted, because I really like them, but there is no emo or hardcore in them.
I don't hear anything like Trot or TBB. I don't listen to Glassjaw.

Meh, I've seen people who used to completly rave about wake the dead change their opinion completly when the scene kids got their hands on it.

Because they are similar in the fact that they both have some emo influences that very occasionally you can hear but are not emo.
And dude they do sound alike.

But neither band sounds the band he posted... I can understand bringing FearBefore when you're tlaking about TBB, but neither of them sound like that Ernie band.
